Trip Tips: What do you do to help make your trips enlightening and enjoyable? Post your suggestions and ideas here.

the forum description here is somewhat vague, and it has come to my attention that some people think too many of the posts within trip tips are off-topic. i thought so once apon a time myself, but i figured that this forum was simply a light-hearted area of the shroomery where shroomers could come to ask questions about their own trips (which would probably be better suited for general questions) and/or just rant about the latest experience they had and what made it so enjoyable.

however, i have noticed much repitition in the posts. and many many people are using trip tips to plan for their upcoming trips more than sharing their own "enlightening and enjoyable" tips for a good trip. so it seems that well defined forum rules are in order. personally, i hate rules, and i would much rather see this forum take it's own course (within reason) - but with so many new users, and so many posts of similar nature popping up, i feel that it wouldn't be such a bad idea to provide a clear set of guidelines for the forum.

so let everyone's voice be heard, please speak publicly in this thread about what you think would be best for Trip Tips! for without voice, the community cannot be heard. you can start by taking the poll here and follow up with any other comments or suggestions you may have right here in this thread.

well i just tried movin' around some threads that were way off topic, but it seems that most of the posts here may simply be asking for tips rather than giving them. i'd really like some opinion before i start moving so many threads. how do you guys feel about this?

Should Trip Tips consist solely of trip tips?
Yes, only post if you have a tip to offer!
No, you should be able to post here if you are in search of tips and too lazy to walk o'er to General Questions

I think this forum serves perfectly for people who are giving trip tips, and looking for trip tips. the general questions forum should be for more random and, well, general stuff

I think this forum should be for all trip tip related questions and comments, and for stories about your latest trip that everyone may find amusing. If not where else would you put your trip stories?

i think organization is part of the problem. for we do have a section of this site just for trip stories - or trip reports as they are commonly referred to (http://www.shroomery.org/tripreports.php).

the problem with allowing people to post any trip tip related questions is that it would make the general questions forum obsolete... for that is exactly what the general questions forum is for: "If you have any general questions about tripping or psychedelics, post them here." afterall, what's the point in having such specialized forums when nobody uses them as intended?

it looks as though i'm just a freak crackhead at the moment, but i'm going to let this poll run for a while longer 'cause there are tons of posts here that belong in general questions, and i think this forum should stick to it's structure better. anyone agree..? please speak up, it's cold out here all by myself

I've been reading the gen questions forum too, and it seems there's a lot more people ask about rather than tips on tripping on mushrooms. people are asking about combining drugs, drug preparation, asking how long between trips... these are more general, rather than 'what music should i listen to', or 'trip during the sunset!'
I do agree with you that there are many posts that belong in gen. questions, but that's fine you can just move em, otherwise i think the forums are fine. but unfortunately, there is a lot of grey area between the two... hm

Trip Tips is my favorite forum to visit, and I like it just the way it is. I always figured it to be a forum of giving and asking for trip tips.
General Q's, for me, has always been more of a board with questions like:

"How much acid should I take for my first time?"
or
"What happens when I mix LSD and MDMA?"
or
"How long should I wait between trips?"


To where as this forum, for me, is more of a forum to discuss the actual trip:

"I have only done acid my whole life, how is a shroom trip different?"
or
"I'm going camping and going to eat 5 grams of mushrooms, any suggestions?"


I like this board because I can give and recieve information, most of the posts on Gen Q's are beyond me because they go into other things like morning glory, and mixing psychedelics. I don't want to have to wade through all that just to find a few posts that I actually can help people with. I have done a lot of mushrooms so I feel I can help people prepare for their trips, and give them some good "TRIP TIPS", and I also like some of the other tips given here. I, for one, don't think this forum needs too much reforming.

My 2 cents:

Trip tips forum should include:
Cool things to do when tripping;
Questions about cool things to do when tripping;
How to create a good set and setting;
Questions about things people are considering doing when tripping (bike riding, etc.);
Anything else related to activities performed while under the influence of psychedelic drugs.

Trip tips forum should not include:
Trip reports;
General Questions about tripping (duh);
Really anything better suited to another forum (growing questions, etc; again, duh)

Ok, my post probably isn't as helpful as I'd expected it to be, but.. meh.

I think that is up to you. I think that if its not overly abused, topic should be kinda free. Alot of times i like to stick to 1 forum, and i like to keep topics in there, as long as htey are reasonably close. I think if we have another forum for it, it should get moved. Im sure a good majority of people will post in the right forum, but i dont think they should get flamed for sharing a trip report in 'trip tips' but maybe moving posts would be a nice alternative ?? =D Its up to you geo&newt :>>> BTW i like ur icon
