This has never been proven, but it seems to be coincidence in my experience that the faster they blue the more potent, I had brf cakes that took the shrooms a good 5 mins to blue where touched, then I have poo grown shrooms that bruise right before your eyes.
Needless to say the poo grown cubes where much more potent.

its funny ive had shrooms (grown on poo of coruse)that blued and that didnt blue at all ,and both were about the same potentcy wise..and even on my pan cyans some blued and others didnt,and those are deadly potent :wink:  its always cool looking though when they do blue up :tongue2:

The bluing is caused by the oxidation of an alkaloid present in the cells of the mushroom, not the psylocybin itself.
It's likely that high levels of nutrients suitable for psilocybin production also stimulate the production of this coloured alkaloid.
So while it's not a direct relationship, it's possible that there is a link. I've grown shrooms which bruised heavily on the first flush, and progressively less so on later flushes. The later flushes were also less potent so it could be an indicator to some degree.
