sclerotia questions

i am aboutto partake in my first sclerotia expiriment.my questions are as follows.i will beusing perrenial rye seed.should i dry in oven since i dont know the moisture content before using the 2-1 ratio?does the growth require any air exchange?ie the jars are sealed.once it has consumed the available nutrient does it mearlygo dormant?would potency decline?how far outside the recomended 75-80 deg.range for mex.is acceptable?i am eager to here any input from someone who has been succesfull.thanks and peace

2 part rye seed to 1 part water

You don't have to do a moisture content test on the seed. Sclerotia are produced in unfavorable conditions.

Gas exchange is not necessary, and as long as temps are not rediculous you should be o.k. Avoid temps above 90F and below 60 F. Hottter temps cause excessive metabolite production(yellow exudant) in the jars. Low temperatures below 70F cause slower growth. 72- 82F would be great.

Filter disks are never necessary, but are always beneficial. I don't use them and have excellent results.
