say i were to buy a sclerotia mycobag and inject it with mexicana A spores. would this create sclerotia or would i have to inject live culture.

spores will do it.

it sure would be nice to inject a few bags and forget about them for 4 months. only to find them again and have lots of yummy truffles.

yep, that's exactly how it goes. (all except the yummy part anyway).

good luck.
I tried philospher stones and opened my first bag after 4-5 months, nothing but rye with a small white layer on it.
I didn't have much luck finding anyone else with advice on them either.
please keep us, or me posted.

when you get the bag, the substrate inside will be very dense and compacted. it'll be like a brick of rice\grass seed\whatever-else... work it with your hands until it's all broken up and expanded. you want it to be in a horizontal layer inside the bag about an inch or so thick and fluffed up.
