MESCALINE ALCOHOL EXTRACTION?
    #5350174 -

Hey, i posted this along with my trip report but it wasnt getting as much attention.. Here it is again... Has anyone had experience with this method? Is it a legit way to reduce the amount of cacti?

"Excellent, tested method - I know everclear would be better, but I only have
access to vodka:

(1) Put ~60g in a glass bottle of 100 proof vodka (ground up in coffee
grinder is best)
(2) Shake often over the course of 3-4 days, keeping it in a dark place
(3) Strain out the liquid with a (clean) sock, and pour it into some shallow
dishes
(4) Use a food dehydrator (or just wait) for the alcohol (and some water) to
evaporate the liquid. A murky/dirty layer will appear at the bottom of the
liquid as there is no longer enough liquid for the solids to be dissolved
in. Keep the liquid, reducing it (by low-heat evaporation) to any amount
you like.
(5) Put that ~60g back in the glass bottle, refill with vodka
(6) Shake often over the course of 5-7 days
(7) Repeat steps 3 and 4 with that next batch (it should be much less
murky - getting out the "last" of the water and alcohol soluable stuff in
the cactus.

You can dehydrate as long as you want - I like to make a 20g equivalent of
solid about 1/2 a cup of liquid. With everclear, there would be so much
alcohol that it would evaporate very quickly -- it might not even be
necessary to have a food dehydrator in that case. 1/2 cup is small enough
that you can chug a small mouthful, but large enough that you can spread out
ingestion over several hours."

im not expert on the extraction, i just know the a/b extraction posted in ODD defiently works   this sounds a hella lot safer, but i wonder if the end result will result in the same....

We need ekstaza on this one....I hope he grabs this and reads it and posts

Do a search for alcohol extraction and you should find plenty of my posts.

It works great.

I use 190 proof grain alcohol, though.

You don't get crystals at the end of this one. I think it leaves you with a sticky black goo.

yeah, I could care less if i end up with goo... The only thing i am wondering is if this goo with dry out to become powder again since I will want to load it up into capsules! I would guess it would? but so far noone has confirmed this?

Anyone?

Im not sure about the goo becoming powder, I have some goo from an extraction still and it hasnt formed the consistency of becoming powder or ever will, but you can try freezing them solid and try something from then on in but why not just down the goo its just like a nasty syrup that produces a wonderfull experience.

The main reason is that I am going to do more then just one dose worth(If i have enough alcohol) and it would be nice to store it in capsules. I wonder why the alcohol wont completely evaporate out? I mean it started as a powder, shouldn't the liquid evaporate off? Also, how much "goo" do you usually take? I really enjoyed my 50 gram powder dose... Any ideas on what would be equivalent? I understand it isn't easy estimating with Torch because the potency can vary but any estimates would be appreciated

P.s. back to me previous post.. Anyone know if you can reuse the alcohol? Or how much I would need to do extraction on 500 grams?

Anyone know if you can reuse the alcohol?---I doubt it... But better yet how much I would need to do extraction on 500 grams?

Anyone know a alcohol / grams ratio?

so...you end up with a goop instead of crystal......seems like SO much more work and whatnot for an end result - as opposed to the HCL version....

What do you weigh the goop in mg and then down it from there?
or do you just say "all my end result, i will just induce it after the 60 gram powder conversion to a goop?"

what does this 60 grams and all this work, produce? measurements.......

i mean , i ask because i know someone who would liek to try....but he has done the HCL extraction, had amazing results, and wants to know is this worth trying or not? it just seems liek way to much work (7-8 days process?)

Hmmm, i need more information. The ONLY reason he would prolly try this is to save some money and to get rid of the smell of xylene in his apartment at times....but then again i wonder if its worth the time he will lose.

I don't know man... This method sounds easy as hell.. I have a week to burn before I want to trip anyway. All you do is put the cacti in the alcohol, shake a few times a day, then strain, and repeat.. Let the shit evaporate and your golden.. I don't have the resources or the confidence to do the a/b method--but i would LOVE to get some pure crystals... But I will for sure settle for eating a little goo compared to eating 60 grams of green hell.

ANYWAY!!! Can ANYONE answer:

you could probably reuse the alcohol if you have some kind of distillation setup to cath the vapor and condense it back into liquid, but why even worry about it, everclear/vodka is pretty cheap.

and as for your question about an estimate of EtOH/cactus ratio, i have no idea, you could try different ratios on the same batch of cactus record results, repeat with a different ratio. then use the data to determine which is the most efficient.
