mescaline extraction question
    #3507163 - 12/16/04 02:12 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

i have a question concerning the alcohol extraction of mescaline from san prdro. When all the alcohol is evaporated of and your left with the product, does this product contian freebase mescaline?
If so does this mean that it should be eaten straight away, because i read that freebase mescaline can react with carbon dioxide in the air to form mescaline carbonate.

the reason i ask is that i want to do the extraction and then save the product for about 5 days. does anyone know this will be alright?

Simple Acid - Base Extraction.

You turn the freebase mescaline into a salt before evaporating the solvent.

You should use either Hydrochloric or Sulphuric acid. Using HCL will give you Mescaline Hydrochloride and H2SO4 will give you Mescaline Sulphate.

You should be able to store the end product almost indefinitely.

I have read that you can use both HCL and and H2SO4 for this step, but does anyone know if there is an advantage to one over the other? Besides just price and availability that is.

I think the weight of the final product will differ.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can use either of them but I wouldn't recommend using both of them.

Mixing acids, most notably ones of different concentrations, can be potentially dangerous.

In regards to the 'advantages' of one salt over the other. Elgr is right Mescaline Sulphate is heavier than Mescaline Hyrocholride by roughly 11%, so you would need to take more of it.

Meh, I can't type I guess, that "and and" was supposed to be an "or". I wasn't talking about mixing acids =P I was talking about advantages of using one over the other. I guess if you would need to use and consume more H2SO4 then HCL, I would just use HCL at this point.
