Dose Tips (specifics)?

Hey all!
I finally got my Puerto's from sporeworks to grow and have harvested a near ounce from two 1 quart cakes. My only problem is that I am planning on eating some tomarrow but don't know how to dose fresh fun-guys. I usually take bout a HALF of an 1\8th, but dont know if this would change with fresh ones due to their extra water content. I've heard that fresh ones are more potent but I've also heard that they are not as potent as dried ones. Any suggestions into how much these fresh boomers would be in equivalence to my normal dosage would be VERY HELPFUL :)

This should be in general questions...but since I'm responding I'll say that fresh mushrooms are 90% water...so eat 10 times the weight of what you would eat dry. If it takes you 3 grams dry to trip usually.. eat 30 g fresh

The more dry the more potent, cause there is less water. My first trip I ate 4 grams, I was pretty out there. Saw a bunch of colored dots and shit. Stuff shrinking, damn bong kept shrinking and was near impossible to hit.

Wrong! Look at it this way. If you eat a half dozen shrooms wet, or if you were to eat the same half dozen dry, there would be no difference. Of course the wet would weigh more but the amount of active ingredients would be the same.

The 10 to 1 ratio is as close as you need to be. 30g wet is 3g dry.

why do you need to know how much to dose, if your doing your own growing just go ahead and eat every last little mushroom you have

Actually, here's how the ratios work:

Mushrooms are 92% water, hence 8% dry matter.
So 30g wet would dry to:

30x0.08 = 2.4grams dry

But since you lose a percentage of potency when drying, we know that they were origionally more potent when they were wet. They are 1.4x as potent when they're wet, so that same batch before drying was equal to:

2.4x1.4 = 3.36 grams of some other dry mushrooms

30g wet is a good dose, but for a first timer I'd say 20-25 wet is a better dosage. Work your way up, you dont wanna find out 1/3 of the way into the trip that you took more than you could handle

I have ate fresh mushrooms, and i usually go by rule of thumb. 10 grams fresh=1 gram dry. With the brown rice cubies, I only eat about two grams at a time. Two grams is a damn potent dose of brown rice mush.

When I eat the ones grown on brown rice dryed with dessicant I always notice they are way way better than anything I buy from others.

I eat 70 grams wet or 7 grams dry I have tripped a lot though Its not a dose for a lightweight start small and work your way up to that dose its pretty mind blowing

7 grams has become my favorite dose as well. As Sporecloud said however... it's not for beginners. I have done as much as 12g, which was way too much, not a bad trip, at least what I can remember. That's why it was too much. Turned into a zombie. I feel less than 3 is a waste.

And there are differences in the texture of the trip some people say. This is because there are changes in the molecular constitution of dry mushrooms verses fresh. Drying is the begining of a molecular degradation process. Dry mushrooms are still great and could at times in theroy be better. But all I am saying is that there are differences sometimes between the two so you cannot always compare the two in terms of a formula no matter how accurrate that formula is. You could however measure psilocybin and for that formulas would work great. I am talking about subtle differences which could be other molecules besides psilocybin and could possibly have to do with GI absorbtion rates of fresh verses dry. So in other words I would eat the whole damn thing on an empty stomach. Funny because my friend was in this situation last night. He had 33 grams wet of PF strain. I convinced him to eat the whole thing. I figured it would be about equal to 3.5. grams dry. After he ate it I realized that the mushrooms felt totally wet but were somewhat dry. I figure he got about 5+ grams dry equalivency. Well I left his place and havent heard from him since. He is a veteran but I am sure it will be a funny trip report.
