Pressure Cookers...

Morning all... I'm about to start my first attempt with some Ecuadors (Thanks again Sporeworks!) but I am unsure of how this damn hand-me-down pressure cooker works. If at all possible, I would prefer NOT to have aluminum shrapnel spraying about my kitchen... it is on the smaller side, a Mirro, and has no pressure guage, but does have a little "wobbler" deal on the top... Any suggestions, hints, tips, etc.? Thanks in advance, have a good one... b

i got almost the same deal.. little gas releas wobbler on the top n no gauge. heat that sucker with your jars till the wobbler starts spitting out misty air, than crank down the heat till the pressure is stabilized and you will be ok. you dont want the wobbler slapping around from too much pressure, but you do want it constantly releasing air

Make sure there is something in the bottom of it like a small metal plate, which should be included, or a rag, if the metal plate is missing.

I worried about that shrapnel deal myself, that's why I do all my cooking on a gas barbeque outdoors.
