Test if your pressure cooker is working!

A simple test to test if your pressure cooker is working properly:
Let a drop of water drop on the pressure cooker while sterilizing. If the drop boils like underneath, the temperature is around 250?F(120?C) and the pressure cooker is working properly.

You add marbles anand?? How can you not hear the PC boiling??? It`s pretty difficult unless you`re deaf. Despite the fact that steam is released and the rocker weight jitters for an hour.

A operating pressure cooker is hot. Quite hot to be honest.
It?s hotter than the boiling point of water at 1 atmosphere(212?F=100?C) If the pressure cooker is of a "standard" kind, it will be 250?F=121?C hot.
Now, if you put a small amount of water(=a drop) onto the surface of the lid of the pressure cooker(while the pressure cooker is under pressure), the drop of water will begin to boil vigorously and will have evaporated in 2-3 seconds, since the surface of the pressure cooker is so much hotter than the boiling point of water at the atmospheric pressure.
If the pressure cooker doesn?t work, if the pressure doesn?t build up properly, the pressure cooker temperature will be the same as the boiling point of water at atmospheric pressure or only slightly above. If you were to drop a drop of water on such a cooker, the drop would only sit there and slowly evaporate over the course of a minute or so.

I tested my cooker and the drops boil and evaporate in about 10 seconds. I guess this one isn't 120*C but somewhere between 100 and 120. Probably because it's an old one. Hot enough I hope...
