Some of the stuff you need explained like for instance "what is civil conversation mean?" come on its not one thing that can be explained its IDEA in and of itself. Its an all encompassing way to act and behave in a social environment. It is respect for others way of thinking.

I am new, and I am used to forums where the levels of respect and grammar which are upheld in this forum are generally not upheld.

This forum, despite what you all seem to think, is actually quite nice. People use grammar which I enjoy. Ppl Dnt Talq lyk Disz, whitch i alzo lyk. And all in all, its a nice community.

However, to me it really just seems that people are thinking too much about themselves in the middle of an argument, and attributing themselves to a role of "arguer" instead of "co-student and colleague".

We are all in this together trying to learn, trying to hear out other people. If you are here to prove things to people, then at least respect when people might not believe or agree with you, especially when you won't make the effort to prove things to people nicely. But I think most people are here because they want to learn and discuss and see what people have to say, I know I am. So why would one get so angry and caught up in a discussion?

You are a student, as is the person you are arguing with, of the lesson that is your discussion. You are both in it together, you are trying to build a constructive conclusion or opening of ideas, not tear the other down.

If someone has something to say about your point's validity, then that person should treat it as a way for them to learn more, and you should treat is as a way for you to learn more, and you can dissect each others points together and with love, and respect.
