You're a good debater with excellent linguistics. That alone puts you farther than most here when trying to prove or debunk a statement. But if you're wrong, why not accept the loss when's it's blatantly obvious instead of either not replying or misleading the topic discussed by responding to quotes taken out of context? That'd be the noble and logical thing to do. If you value this community and aim at respect of your image, then why not strive to support it?

not EVERYTHING posted in here has to be argued man. Thats silly. And yes believe it or not you can believe someone on faith(besides the fact Swami has done that to me before liek today when he stopped responding to the intuition post cause i called him out as wrong) When you get in arguments in real life do you make people stop and show you proof before even considering what they are saying? i highly doubt it, you can also trust in your own knowledge on any given subject that comes up so that one would not need to "substantiate" every claim one makes(like when he said that about swami i knew what he was talking about without proof, wow its a miracle). this is normal, and not everything that is argued needs proof to be argued. also one can use his own common sense and yes in many things it is sufficent enough to recognize things that can and cannot be proven by factual proofs. Just because something is not rooted in fact does not exclude it from being argued. peace

That reminds me of finding trash that my dog has chewed up an hour after the fact, and confronting him about it, when he more than likely doesn't remember it anymore. "He knows what he's done!". Yeah, right.

as i said, i already confronted swami about it immediately after it happened [insert joke about swami being compared to training dog] and we had a discussion about it then.

I remember confronting you about all of those times that you said you loved smacking old people around and then running away. I gave you examples then. Don't forget it. See, same thing. :smirk:

this is not a good counter example. are you saying that tomorrow i couldn't refer back to the discussion you and i had tonight because id have to assume you didn't remember? if swami doesn't remember let him tell me himself.

If you do not wish to begin some kind of formal debate, then do not start one by proposing unsubstantiated claims for discussion. Simple.

my post was directed at swami and not you.  i didn't feel the need to substantiate because i felt reasonably sure hed remember the discussion i was referring to. if not, thats ok. he can let me know and i wont press the issue further.

I personally think that Swami should officially release a job description for the coveted Swami Advisor position, and start interviewing the hundreds of posters who clearly desire the role (as we know the position isn't going to pay well on its own). Hell, maybe they just want the privledge to feel good about themselves by being associated with Swami. :smirk:

I'm simply curious as to why we all don't provide free consultation to Skorpivo, or Ped. Or myself. I clearly need it far more than Swami does. Let's start with some real issues, like why I neglect paying my bills and create unneccessary, negative financial situations for myself. That would be productive, would it not?

Because he's the epitome of the skeptic, and Im curious to his and others's reasons for support of their personality flaws. When I see no purpose in something I like to see why it still exists.

Financial advice on your bills doesnt interest me as much, hence I concentrate on other more egoistical issues such as the psyche of the resident debunker of arguments, that are more self-pertaining. Like everyone else.

That isn't "silly". The rules fully address the fact that everything in here will be argued. If that does not befit you and your perceptions of what should and should not be argued, then I would firmly suggest moving on to other forums, such as Mysticism, Religion, and the Paranormal. Then nothing would have to be argued.

Thus you focus on issues that cannot even be addressed through this medium, as you have absolutely no knowledge of one's psyche, as it simply cannot be evidenced here.

the reason we wish Swami was cooler is because he is smarter than just about everyone here. I mean in a book smart way of course, he could use alot more "street"smarts, he doesnt seem to get people very well either. He is a good person for the most part, and as stated up there somewhere he is great with words and reason(he is not as good with delicacy)

The reason no one cares about fireworks Skorpivo, or Ped is because you while having some level of intelligence are jackasses(no offense man). weather or not you know it(im pretty sure you do since you do seem to have more street than book smarts) you come off as simply wanting to piss people off, push peoples buttons, and it is a sport for you. you argue for the sake of arguing not for the sake of learning new things. You stick your nose in as many places as you can and generally ignore any of the important parts of a post(swami does that too, but at least he has some passion even if you dont agree.)

I didnt know behaviour had no effect on cognitive thinking and overall persona! That's news to me!

Swami always puts himself in this authoritative 'teacher' position when conveying the context of a post. I've got no problem with that as I often do that myself. However, if I see someone clearly evade a problem that if they confronted it would serve them better to convey the idea in question, should I not point it out? Should I never judge someone's actions and keep the debates strictly on an objective basis? Hell, I like it when someone takes my arguments on a personal level and makes an acquisition of the unintended thought behind my post. The only way to grow is to clear your flaws before you build theories on an unstable platform.

They piss me off and push my buttons, and they must enjoy doing it, because they're passionate about Truth, adamant against ignorance, and thrive in evolution and growth. I can't stand their guts, they have the nerve to stick their noses in my own business [read: semi-public posts on a debate-oriented internet forum], and generally address only the salient points of posts [or whatever coherently formed sentences they can manage to find]. Swami does that too, but shucks, I can't just go around hating every one of y'all, now can I? So he's cool in my book, but screw all them other evil, evil people that don't put up with B.S.

dude you can argue opinions, because not all opinions are of equal merit like saying i saw an octopus yesterday crawling on the ground is obviously false because we know that it would be dead outside of water, but arguing on the nature of reality now that is philosphy at its best, and correct me if im wrong but that word is in the title to his forum
