if you are using perlite humidification you can simply place the cakes on the wet perlite for a day or two THEN FLIP TO REHYDRATE THE OTHER HALF. usually when you do a dunk you do it for 24 hours. also you can mist a little more than usual but i would go with the perlite method as it will only absorb as much as it can.

Hmm, I don't understand how your dunked cake could have possibly dried out in 5 days. When you birth a cake it isn't even necessary to rehydrate the cake until after the first flush. Do you perhaps have a strong light positioned near your cakes?

my light is out side the F.C 3 feet above the F.C and is only 25 watts i do have a aquarium air pump running into the F.C it's a dual outlet rated for a 100 gal aquarium could the air pump be drying the cakes out ?

i think you may be onto something here. if you have no perlite or hydroton on the bottom to hold water the air is prolly drying out the cakes. check out my system.

notice there is water with the hydroton, there is my humidity supply along with the air stone for fresh air underneith the water. if you are just pumping air into there i beleive this would be as bad as adding a fan inside the chamber.

You definitely need some sort of perlite or hydroton on the bottom of your fruiting chamber with a 10% H2O2 / H2O solution with bubbling action. Check my setup out.

30 gallon tub, 2 18'' bubblewands, 60 gallon air pump, polyfil stuffed holes for FAE, plexiglass window on top to promote uniform growing, 3'' of lava rocks/grow rocks with peroxide/water solution. Keeps it like a sauna in that bitch.

A Poor Man's Pod is self automated. There is no direct air current blowing on the cakes, which would dry out any cake/casing in no time. The bubblewands just wick moisture and fresh air through the hydroton, causing great humidity and pushing CO2 out. I wouldn't fan my cakes at all if you have another method of FAE.

i agree with the above statement. you shouldn't even need to open the top if you have things automated. one thing i noticed is i didn't see your air stone or whatever you have your air running threw. i saw a setup a while ago that used a small bottle of water with an airstone and airline run into it. she said that it provided both humidity and fresh air kind of like an alteration of the poor mans pod.
