What is the origin of thought? I suppose you'd have to stop thinking, for a moment, to understand.

Surely when you consider something in YOUR life and you formulate your opinion on it based on YOUR biological make-up and raising and other factors, blah blah, surely you contrive an original thought here and there... but mostly, no, we're all thinking the same thing and saying different things... to make it more confusing and fun.

I invented the word unibrow. Now everyone's saying it.

sha fa nos unglux wasing pith ? (Every own produced thought may be fresh as apple pie)

If you thought something for yourself, it doesn't matter if trillions did have the same thought before. It's just comforting and optimizes your chances to be true, but it also still could be some human deviation from truth.

Is that a thought?

If so, how is it a thought?

And why is it original? How is it original?--it's derived from other things (letters, understanding of grammar and syntax, vowel and consonant sounds, etc). What is original about it?

Of course it's a thought. How could I write it if I didn't think it?

I didn't think that.

Even if it is a thought, which you've not provided any evidence for other than: if it wasn't a thought I couldn't type it, you still haven't proven it's original.

In what way can a thought be original?

Frankly, if you're going to base your arguments on the presupposition of a generalized norms of "original" and "thought", then your discussion is not within the context of philosophical discourse.

I never claimed it was origional. In fact I didn't say it. But it sums up how I feel about the question.

Without knowing the total sum of all human knowledge (actually, the sum of every thought ever thought by a human) how can one know that any thought they have is "original"?

I have had plenty of thoughts that were "my own" - in that they are the products of my own reasoning ability - but they certainly were not "original" because after looking into it I find that others have already had the same thought. You can be sure, though, that all those thoughts felt original as I thought them.

If a thought can feel original even when it isn't, then I must conclude that I have no way of knowing if any given thought is actually original...or if I just haven't heard it from someone else yet.

Just a thought.

Im sure almost every thought is original.

It only takes a fraction of a difference to make something original.

It's original because it has never been thought of in those circumstances, with that exact mindset, with those exact feelings, and with that person.
