Plastic Jar lids?

I got about 12 jars to start innoculation today, but I realized when I got home they are plastic lids. I'm heating a small nail to poke hole in the top 4 corners..but will the plastic melt to the glass when I'm boiling them? Just a worry...

When I use plastic lids, I tape over the one big hole and put a layer of foil over the substrate. After I cook the jars and let them cool, I remove the lid and inoculate through the foil in 4 spots. I then put the lid back on, and into the incubator they go. Here is a link to a grow log where I am using the plastic lids. BRF/verm update:

Do you still need to use the lid with the rubber seal on it , or can you just place the plastic lid on the jar by itself ? ?

Crispy, If you put foil over the substrate as I described, you do not need to use the metal lid. Peace.
