Shroomery Writer's Club Subforum?
    #5059064 -

I thought I'd just toss this out, to get an official admin/staff response on the topic.

Okay, as you know (or may not know) there has been some talk on the Music Art and Literature forum about creating a "Shroomery Writer's Circle."  Click here to read the thread about it.

We were wondering if there was anyway we could get a subforum for this purpose.  You have a subforum for Shroomery radio, and now I hear that there is going to be a special section for MP3's.

One of the reasons why us writer's would like a subforum for our writer's club is because written work is quickly swamped in the music, art and literature forum by music and artwork.  Any litarary piece is overlooked and shoved down.  If you take a look at that forum right now you will see that there is hardly any literary submissions.  Why is that?   There's lots of writer's on the Shroomery, we just don't have a spot we can use to get feedback and advice about writing.

So we were wondering about the subforum, since a bunch of us would really like to get serious about our writing if we could and would like to get to work in an envirnment we are comfortable with: i.e. the Shroomery.  I guess we could use our journals (and we probably will even with a subforum) but it would be awesome to have a centralized "headquarters" to put our unfinished, in-progress, need-feedback kinda stuff.

Now, I've already mentioned in that thread that I know you guys aren't hot on "pet forums" and stuff like that.  But I figure because there is a Shroomery radio forum and even a spot for mp3's that you'd like to make space for the written word too.

I figured it would be a long shot to convince you guys, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Regardless...check out the thread, and let me know what you think.

truly,

*me*

Oh, and I've read  The Shroomery's Official Statement on New Forum Creation

I especially like this sentence:

Quote:
We won't create a forum because it's "cool", but we'd definitely create one to fill a void.

I think there is a void, considering that any written work gets quickly swamped by music and artwork.  Not that those things aren't awesome, but if you've noticed people haven't seen much of a point in posting their written work anymore in that forum.  It gets washed away by the other mediums.  That is part of the reason I stopped visiting that forum anyway, because I have to do a serious hunt to find any literature posted.  As of now, I'm counting one written piece at the bottom of the page, which only the original poster has replied to.  I'm about to reply to it myself.

I understand that you need a demand to create a forum.  Well, I think that there will be a demand and more writer's will come out of the forest if we had a common place to "meet."

So just let me know yay or nay...

Just an innocent question - no telling yet, whether or not the forum may come to be

Well, it WOULD combine two of my most favorite things, writing and Shroomery.    :tongue2:

The existing mods should have first dibs on this little subforum but if nobody else would like the honor then I wouldn't mind.

I think you should moderate that, I've already said so to you myself.

It might be nice to have writers' subforum--I didn't really see anything at this site after posting in the arts/music forum when I first got here, so I ignored it.

There are other forums out on the web that cater to writing and critiques, though none of the ones that I participated in were terribly helpful.

The idea of an open-viewing shroomery writing subforum with whole texts/pieces laid out there might get problematic in that you'll attract stoned/drunk/tripping readers of shit you've thought through, while sober, over many, many hours of contemplation...then you get random comments that aren't helpful at best, or, at worst, just bullshit.

As much as I hate creating esoteric "clubby" subforums, perhaps it would be better to create a "sign-up" list for members to said forum and have a submission qualification for members.   Dunno.

Check out all the new journal entries by the advocators of this sub-forum and see how willing people are to participate in it.
