Hey guys, i innoculated some jars, and now about five days later they smell a little sour, has this happened to anyone, why does it happen, and has anyone heard of using ground cinnamon on dirt to prevent mold?

well the spores were fresh from like a day ago, and as for the cinnamon, i heard it on a gardening show, this lady was trying to grow portabello mushrooms and kept getting mold on her dirt, the dude said to do the cinnamon trick, anyone else know about sour jars, the jars are starting to collinize but still smell sour.

I assume the species you are growing are not portabello. Stick to the tried and true faqs. I never heard of using any cinnamon sticks with cubes. Either way I think what they were talking about on the gardening show was using it to correct mold on casing layer not in the actual substrate itself. Just use the standard pf tek formula. I probably didn't asnwer your question though just give it more time and see it and growth develops it should be white.

Chronic, If your jars smell sour then they are most likely contaminated. A properly colonized jar shouldn't smell.
