Lemon Juice Effectiveness: San Pedro

Ok, I know you guys are wanting to tell me to use the search feature. Honestly, I used the search feature 7 times, rephrasing and adding words and quotation mark combinations each time, and I really couldn't get a straight answer. Anyway, my question is - Can lemon juice really affect the potency of tea made from boiling fresh san pedro? Can it benefit in any way other than maybe making it taste less terrible? If it has any benefits, please explain. Also, when should lemon juice be put in if it does work? Thanks in advance, guys!

A lot of people think it really isn't needed if you cook it long enough. Still, in theory an acidic solution will definitely help pull out the mescaline.
In my opinion, it would in no way help the taste. It would make it more difficult (for me) to get down.

the last time i blended up cacti. I added lemon juice. it helped neutralize the bitterness a bit, but it tasted more funky. After lots of lemon juice didn't work. i put in ice cream. oh god. that shit made me gag. extracting would be so much easier. but whatever, if you have a strong stomach (like myself) you can probably down it. I gagged quite a few times though. I think it was worth the 30 minutes of suffering to down it all though.

use lemon juice to extract the mescaline.
then boil down to 4 oz for each person.
finally take it like a shot, while holding your nose, because we all know you can't taste if you can't smell.
once swallowed, make sure you have milk, ice cream that can neutralize the acidic drink. then remove hand from nose and swallow water so that you stomach doesn't get to acidic.
that is one way to do it.
it has worked for me in the beginning.. but now I just swallow it and chase it with water or milk.
peace.

Thanks guys! So basically the lemon juice isn't very affective as far as putting it in there to help extract the alkaloids?

Ok, I'll do that. I don't want to put lemon in because it seems like it could just make it more bitter. I guess to make sure I get all of the alkaloids, I should taste the solids and see if they're bitter?

Its a good idea. I can never get them to the point where they aren't bitter at all. But 2 feet of cactus gets to be about the size of a golf ball. If all the alkaloids were still in it, it would be bitter beyond your wildest dreams. Don't get upset if it doesn't taste like cardboard.
No point in making a more efficient extraction if you're 10x more likely to puke it up I say.

Thanks guys. I was already thinking about taking one sip of milk to one sip of SP tea. Milk has always seemed to clean my pallette better than water or anything, and it's a mild acid so it could probably help balance out the pH in my stomach, since San Pedro is a strong alkaline. I'm thinking of drinking some lemon juice after I down it to further balance out my stomach pH. I've heard of people having great success with this, experiencing no nausea at all after consumption.

I've read bad things about milk and pedro tea. Unfortunately, I don't have a source or quote to back it. Perhaps someone else can post an experience.

Ok, I know what I'm gonna do. I'm not going to add lemon juice or anything, but just make sure I boil out all of the alkaloids. Then I'm going to take a sip of pineapple juice between sips of pedro snot. I love pineapple juice, so this should work.

Ok I've got the cactus pretty much prepared. But I need to wait until Saturday to do it. Will it be okay to refridgerate it or should I freeze it?
