San Pedro Preparation

The last few nights my 16'' San Pedro has been telepathically communicating to me through my dreams that it wants me to eat it.
Well who am I to resist, so anyway I was wondering if anyone would like to share their preparation methods.

What I usually do is take the cactus, stick it in a blender with some water, and liquify it all. Then pour it all into a pot, add more water to make it not as thick, kinda watery. Then add the juice of at least two lemons, or if your me just use a whole one of those little plastic lemons with lemon juice in them. Boil for a good 30min-1hr, depending on your preference. Then strain, and squeeze the excess water from the cacti pulp. Gather enough courage to overcome the horrible stench, and drink it down. Its best not to just slam it, 'cuz that can cause cramps, but alternatively drinking it slowly is a lot harder to handle. I usually drink it while still warm, but you can chill it or freeze it and consume that way. This way it tastes just like acidic vomit. Mmmmm. But it gets you where you wanna go.

You may need to chop the cactus into small peices and blend them a small bit at a time. It will break down the woody core, but it may take time, and you should do it in small batches to avoid burning out your blender motor.

i'd first chop the cactus up into ~1" thick 'stars'... then cut off each of the 'arms' and throw away the circular core (it is reported to contain only trace amounts of the mescaline, which is what you want)... then take those 'arms' and blend them with a little water.
boil that blended mix up for a while and strain with cheesecloth or something to get rid o all the nasty pulp... blend some more if you want and chill. jonny - how can you drink that shit warm... it's puke-licious even when it's ice cold... arghh! the taste is not fun, however the effect is quite
o yea, when you're blending it, add some sugar and either vitamin C powder or lemon juice to tone down the utter nastyness of the beverage.

Doesn't it make you deathly ill to eat the whole thing?

Why wouldn't you take out the psychoactive parts only?

First off, I've never heard of anyone becoming "deathly ill" from eating the whole thing. Maybe if you ate the spines, ouch. I've only heard of people vomiting for awhile, but given the taste of this concoction and the nature of mescaline, its gonna happen anyway.
Second of all, with this method your not eating the whole thing. You blend it in a blender, add water and lemon juice[/b} (important), boil, strain and drink the liquid only. The lemon juice serves to aid in making the alkaloids in the cactus soluble in the water. Its a simple acid extraction. Your not consuming the whole cactus. Just the alkaloids, and some lipids. And it doesn't make you "deathly ill", trust me I know. You will probably vomit though, if you don't you are one strong mofo indeed.

I have a 2ft long section of san pedro..... these are the steps followed so far
1. Remove the waxy outer skin and de-spining
2. removing the core and white flesh, leaving the green layer and a small portion of the white flesh... the pieces are about 1/4 inch thick
3. I have laid the pieces out to air dry
this how far i have come....... my next step is to completly dry out the cacti pieces (possibly with low heat in the oven)
1. grind into a powder with a coffee grinder
2. drink it down with some water
any advice concerning this method .... or speculation on how long it will take for the catci pieces to air dry???
also does heat damper the potency of the cacti??
thanx

well i tried air drying my san pedro....for a couple of days and then constructed a dessication chamber... the cacti ended up growing mold and smelling hella bad....
so i tossed my cuttings and....now starting again...
I had planned on drying the cuttings and grinding them...
this time i believe i will try the boiling preperation.......I do believe this will dampen the potency...????
and i could not find a ceramic pot...an aluminum (one will have to do... :(
any suggestions or advice would be helpful

Boiling won't hurt the mescaline (infact, it's tough enough that you could probably have dried it out in the oven with no loss of potency), just make sure you do two or three extractions to yank out as much of it as possible.
Why not use a large stainless steel saucepan? Even if you have to do it a bit at a time...the conventional wisdom says not to use aluminium -- nasty reactions with the acetic acid in the lemon juice or something...

Only five? I had to fight the vomit with each and every swig.
If you wanted to dry it out, you could always use the oven. Mescaline is not broken down as easily as other compounds when subjected to heat.

I always use the above methods.....but instead of drinking the vile liquid, I boil it down to a paste then bake the paste in the oven on 200 till it becomes brittle enough to powder....then I stuff them in pills....

I don't mean to sound like a sicko, but it really doesn't taste that bad. The slime factor sorta bugs me. Chase it with Squirt!
