I can't wait to get my home brewed beer from my home grown refrigerator. Come the harvest moon I'll be harvesting a brand new Audi. I grew a Quattro this year. Good thing, too, the Farmer's Alamanac says the winter will be snowy. My petro patch did well too so I'll be able to sow new plastic seeds in the spring. I really need a new printer. Will probably have to trade some of my copper minings for organic microchips. Fair enough. Don't know who's growing toner these days but if I mortgage my pixels I should be able to find something. Or plant my own. It IS a fast grower. Fucking modems take forever to fruit though. Ah well, life is long

I've heard the computer crop is coming right along this year. These wonderful machines just grow right out of the ground like corn.

Things may not always be perfect and fair in our modern day societies, but how fair would they be if there was no central authority to impose some type of order? It would be like the Wild West all over again.

Define your terms. Capitalism has nothing to do with imperialism. It is possible for a country to be Capitalist without being Imperialist and vice versa. As a matter of fact, since Capitalism is a very recent innovation in human history, the vast majority of empires were non-Capitalist.

So you, like the college professor mentioned in the opening post in this thread, are referring not to Capitalism but to the modern day mixed economy of the US. And even if we discuss that hobbled and compromised version of "capitalism" we can see that wealth inequality is not a requirement for its functioning and stability either.

capitalism refers to an economic system in which all or most of the means of production are privately owned and operated.

imperialism is a policy of extending control or authority over foreign entities as a means of acquisition and/or maintenance of empires

for the american empire, this is a perfect example. we are struggling to control foreign entities for profit, and in the mean time securing trade and resources to further feed the fire of capitalism that has taken the country this far.

yes, hence the word "correction" in bold text, followed by my corrected usage. even though you like to describe our economy as "mixed," it is most certainly 1000 parts capitalism for any other economic policy.

Would you mind citing a few examples of a capitalist policy in which there are no division of classes, or where there has been a stable capitalist society that did not have an unbalanced spread of wealth?

I'm going to start getting huffy.

I use my own mind. Through using my own mind I have determined that all of the individual anarchist schools of thought have one BIG fucking flaw -- they put too much faith in people's ability to live peacefully with no central authority. The history of this world is replete with examples of people imposing themselves upon others. Advocating a situation where there is no authority to deal with problems is a recipe for disaster. People are too flawed and too greedy for anarchist utopias (or any utopias for that matter) to work.
