p.s. they are PCable, over and over. The "not for processing" label refers to the oxydation of stored foods, as they can't keep oxygen from getting to processed/canned foods as well as metal lids.

As Hippiechick mentioned, the injection port from a BD vacutainer makes for a kickass LC lid. A perfect drill size, to create a watertight super-snug fit, is 31/64; (.4844 in decimal)
I'm sure 1/2" would do the job though.
there are many different size vacutainers!~
I have 3 different sizes.

I've only seen one universal plug size--but the tubes come in varying capacities.

I PC mine. You don't get your's loosening ? I only use mine for LC's. They always loosen . When they say not for processing, they refer to the fact they won't seal like a metal lid when canning food.

That, and there is the problem of 02 permeating a plastic lid over time. But that's what I mentioned above, simply reworded. Sure, mine loosen a little bit, but it's nothing a snug turn doesn't solve.

I was going to order from this site as well, but I don't need 96 caps. That's just way too much. Cheap, but way too much.

Okay, I see it. Still a little cheaper ordering from Polsteins (including shipping), but thanks for providing the link. Always good to have an alternate source.

When I ordered them several weeks ago they must have been on sale. I used one of those shopping searches and they came up on top with Polstens second. I bookmarked both those pages then. But like HC said there going out of season now. In the spring I can usually get most of this stuff in Wal-Mart or even some grocery stores. Hate paying that postage.

One of the very few things I miss about living in Ohio was shopping at Meijer.
