I think deep down most people love Jesus. I mean who can possibly hate Jesus? He was compassion made flesh and he was there for absolutely anyone. Just thinking about gets me teary eyed with joy sometimes

hmmm....

was it a religious epiphany or a heavy acid trip
that took the form of spiriual rebirth?

I've had similar realizations on a ton of nitrous
which wears off in minutes.

I believe you already have a spiritual soul and
are logical and introspective....so I'll ask...

is this real or was it a heavy trip who's affects
will wear off shortly?

It was a heavy trip which was the culmination of things I had been contemplating for a while. I'm very much sober now, but that trip has had a lasting effect on me so far.

I have never hated Jesus, but I have hated Christianity. I am not sure who said they hated Jesus, but maybe they were referring to Christianity.

This sounds like it is more than just the drugs. Hopefully it will last, and continue to influence your life for the better. I keep hoping for a trip like that.

I've long felt the same way. I believe it was Ghandi who said, "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike Christ." However, I see no reason why the intolerant assholes should have a monopoly on the word "Christian." Unlike them, I plan on actually following the teachings of Christ.

I'd be happy to dialogue with you on this because the interface of Indian thought, particularly Jnana [gyan] Yoga of which Sri Ramana was the most recent great example, and Christ is a pet interest. Jnana Yoga is the Yoga of Knowledge and as such constitutes Gnosis in Indian thought. LSD brought me to BE HERE NOW and thence to Yoga, but I had some specifically Christian experiences and Guru Neem Karolie Baba spoke of Christ (but as a "saint," in typically Hindu fashion). I have long worked with synthesizing Indian thought (Advaita and the major heresy - Buddhism) with Christ.

One book that I read long ago is  Vedanta & Christian Faith by Bede Griffiths (a Catholic monastic). Another book that I discovered quite 'by accident' is called The Unity of Reality: God, God-Experience, and Meditation in the Hind-Christian Dialogue by Michael von Bruck (which blew me away!)

To discuss the differences in New Age vs. orthodoxy vs. heterodoxy (such as some Gnostic interpretations of Bible verses that I write about here) would probably take a face-to-face that would rival the initial 13 hour Freud & Jung
meeting!

Luke 11:42 "But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

I must say that socialist to Libertarian to skeptic of everything to devout Christian is one hell of a transformation. Have you considered that the chemicals that were running around in your brain may have induced a sense of "false enlightenment"?

Why have you decided to make Christ and his example the center of your faith? Was it his deeds? His teachings? What impresses you about him so?

It's good to evolve. By the time ss7 hits 50 I imagine he will be a fairly wise and adaptive man.

Shit...if how much he has evolved over the past several years is any indication, he will be a supernatural being capable of inter-stellar travel by the time he is 50.

I would imagine so. I like to think that the Shroomery offers the best of our generation, like Berkley in the 60's

I've never shared this letter from Dr. Hofmann with the public before, but this seems as good a place as any. It was a response to a letter of mine in which I asked about the relationship of the LSD state to 'Being in Christ' (Christ Consciousness'). This was his reply. I hope you and others will appreciate it.

Peace.
