Re: So, I guess I'm Christian now... [Re: Silversoul]

Here is the deal on that:

If one KNEW that we were all one, it would be IMPOSSIBLE to hurt another, yet so many making that claim are as viscious and petty (not talking about you) as those who don't believe we are all one.

Hope you are different my brother and have truly found the cosmic connection that you have long sought.

I brought back my Morality thread in Philosophy to discuss this if Paradigm doesn't want to muck up this one.

Because you are one with everyone. This, to me, is the essence of Christ consciousness. When you understand that you are your neighbor, you understand why you should love him as yourself.

yes, that is why jesus said "what you have done unto the least of my brethren you have done unto me". once you understand that when you help others, you are actually helping yourself, who would not help others?

If one could keep his mind constantly focused on his oneness with others, then indeed this would be the case. But we, as flawed human beings, have a tendency to take such insights for granted, and act without realizing its implications.

I don't need to keep reminding myself not to stab my hand because I know it is a part of me. There is intellectual knowledge and then there is true wisdom.

To keep a mind focused on it, I would think some sort of proof would be in order. I personally have never felt a oneness with everyone. I see those that do as taking it for granted that we are.

The only rationale I have ever seen that makes sense is doubt.
What if there is a god that will send you to hell for being bad? Surely you should act righteous.
But, what if there is no god or afterlife? Would you regret missing out on all that you did becuase of your morality? Or would you be content knowing that you didn't "wrong" others(even though there would be no such thing)?

right, only with the christ consciousness will you truly understand in what way we are all one and truly be able to act on it.

you don't keep your mind focused on the thought "we are all one", that would be silly. rather you rise above the illusion of seperation. when you transcend the illusion you won't need proof but before you transcend it no amount proof will make you understand because it is not simply intellectual knowledge.

So Paragigm we kind of got off track here. What is your next step? Are you compelled by your new discovery to do anything in particular?

Do you regret your tattoo now?

There aren't any real changes in my life that I feel compelled to make, because I think I was on the right track already. However, I now take comfort in having Christ as my refuge in life. He is my compass which I will trust to guide me through uncertain times.

Actually, my latest tattoo is a symbol of Christ consciousness. It is now more fitting than ever.

Also, as I said, I haven't been "denying" Christ all this time. Rather, he was not the center of my faith until now.

are you going to try the techniques on the site i gave you? having previous experience of christ consciousness should make it much easier for you to benefit from them.

Christ was just another human being, with the same biological properties as any of us and a philosophy that was considered to be somewhat profound during his lifetime. Perhaps you are saying "christ consciousness" in a metaphorical sense alluding to enlightenment. If so, couldn't I just as easily label a state of mind that I view to be enlightened with the name of another figure I admire? Jack Nicholson consciousness perhaps. The same type of experiences are labeled as "buddhahood" in eastern culture, which is not to say that this is anymore valid. I think people are quick to label moments of profound realization as Christian in nature because of cultural conditioning, rather than any real relevance between the two.

oh yes, of course you could label it enlightenment or buddhahood or krishna consciousness or Self realization, or God realization or even Jack Nicholson consciousness (although wasn't christ a title rather than his actual name?). i call it christ consciousness precisely because jesus was the way shower for my cultue and because the spiritual teaching i am currently using calls it christ consciousness.

I would say that enlightenment can take different forms. I think Christ consciousness and buddhahood are two different forms of enlightenment.

your faith sounds true. it was spurred by a real experience and not dogmatism or conformtiy. You must be true to youself and what you believe. Your intentions and methods sound to me to be pure. i wish you all the best as you walk this path.

but: dont be to quick to define yourself as a "christian" the beliefs you are describing are very alien to conventional religious christiantiy. Just because you believe in or even devote yourself to christ doesnt mean that you ARE a christian, you know? you are YOU and YOU are far to complex to be described by one poorly understood word.

Defining yourself makes you vulnerable. or something.

seriously though, grab on to this gift of passion and run as far as you can with it.

warning though: in my experience, life changing decisions spurred by psychadelic drugs soon wear off and lose their meaning.

im starting to think lasting change cant be attained with drugs. but please, prove me wrong

much love

ive wondered about this because during my experience of christ consciousness i specifically associated it with jesus and not buddha or lau tzu or anyone else i admire although i attributed this to culteral conditioning. could you go into more detail about how you think these different forms of enlightenment differ from eachother?

I think the differences are not ones that I could describe in words. The end result is the same, but the approach is different.

they only lose their meaning if you don't make a firm commitment to spiritual growth. psychedelic drugs have had a lasting effect on me but ive seen  how if i don't commit myself to higher consciousness i slip back down into lower states. i believe this is what happens to most people who ingest psychedelic chemicals, since they haven't chosen to put spritual progress before everything else, since they  haven't commited to serving God rather than their ego, the enlightenment won't last.
