idea for making shroomcakes..kinda revolutionary..

I never grew shrooms (goin to buy some hawaiian cubensis very soon) but I read a lot on shroom cultivation, and I thought about something. Instead of making cakes in jars and crap and transfering them into a terranium, couldn't we just put LOTS of any given substrate on the bottom of the terranium, and inoculate it, which would make LOTS of shrooms, on a kinda 'substrate bed'..wouldn't that work??

Use 4 meatloaf size tins on the bottom of a 10 gallon tank instead. This way if you get any contamination, you can just remove the one tin. Your way, any contamination will ruin the whole batch.

why dont you just make cakes and case them. You will have ALOT less chance for contams to get to the colonizing substrait.

yup... the jars shield the substrate from contams while the mycelium takes over. don't just innoculate an aquarium of substrate :wink:

i think your idea sounds decent. however the tin trays would be smart. you should give it a try, who knows, it might work.
