in theory it would be true considering you are taking an exact replica of the mushroom. but it doesn't always work out that way. you will still get a few black heads

whats wrong with abhorts? just dry and used them... i noticed that when my wookie friend puts his cakes in soil outdoors (usually under the roots of a guard plant) it produces little or no abhorts...

will this method of cloning work, by putting a sterile piece of the mushroom stem (core piece) in honey water and letting it colonize?

myself i have never done cloning. my friends have tryed it with succsess a bunch of times. but i don't know the exact tek they followed. but i think i have read a similar tek to what you explained. i think it would work as long as everything is sterile. but do more research

works. the only critical deal is that the longer you let it grow in honeywater (mycelium can grow slow sometimes), the more chances of contamination you get. you've got to find a balance... sometimes there are some core pices/stripes that wont grow on honeywater (think they wouldnt grow anywhere else).

ok that was a false statement the tek i read says scrape some of the lining on the inside of the stem with a syringe. don't suck it up put insert it in to the honey. you only need a little chunk. eunough to fill the very tip of the needle. and if everything is sterile it should work

I tried cloning one of my BIG ones. I scraped almost half of the core into a honey-water jar and it still has not colonized almost 2 weeks later. I injected some spores into another jar at the same time and it is half colonized. Seems to me that I have failed or I need to be more patient.

It isn't true. All my shrooms are off clones and I get abhorts. Abhorts can be caused by loads of environmental factors whatever gene line you isolate. BTW: "we are nothing but a collection of dust which is a result of a star exploding, we are pompous to think we have any more signifigance than a speck of dust. " Gotta disagree with those sentiments entirely mate! We are clearly more than dust. I know my familiy is more significant that dust to me and significance is subjective by definition. It's a fallaious reductionist argument. If you don't mind me saying.

I posted that: It's the way dude has been doing it for a long time. He just cores the desired fruit with a 16 g syringe and shoots the cored flesh into the H.W. jar under sterile conditions. 90-95% success rate. Sometimes the flesh injected into the H.W. jar will appear sickly, and you may think it is dead, but it is fine. It does take awhile, even under optimum conditions for the mycelium to become well established. But all in all, IMO it is a good/easy process which works well. Oq
