If you believe something enough can you make it true?
    #4805286 -

As in, if you really truly believed that your heart is stopping (with 100% of your being), could you actually cause it to stop? Do you think this is possible? And if so, what about events outside of your body, like causing a vase to fall over...

There's a technique similar to that called biofeedback. If you practiced, you may be able to slightly slow down your heart rate that way, but I don't think it would be possible to stop it, no.

Telekinesis, on the other hand, I believe to be possible, although no one has to date (that the scientific community knows of) been able to reliably demonstrate it.

That doesn't make it impossible, though.

No, you could not cause your heart to stop.
But... if you really truly believed that you were a totally pointless and terrible human being, then you'd be living a totally pointless and terrible life and probably would become a terrible and pointless person. The opposite is also true.

no you couldn't get your heart to stop... your heart is controlled by the "reptilian brain"...

I think human beings are suppose to have three brains... one evolved on top of the other...

The way you think can physically manifest itself though... whatever you IMAGINE of yourself becomes true, I believe...

If you keep telling yourself "I am stupid", you will probably act stupid after a period of time, listening to your own words... I think idle words are powerfull...

What you vividly imagine gets impressed in the subconscious mind... and sooner or later externalizes, that's my belief...

Lots of successfull atheletes are successfull because they imagine themselves winning... if they did the opposite they might not be successfull...

The human mind and the power of your brain is strange... too bad it didn't come with an instruction manual!

The heart is protected from this. It has its own little nerve-center which gives impulses to the heart-muscle (sinus-knot). The most life-sensible systems in our body are protected like this. If we stop to breath, then as soon as we get unconscious, our brain sends impulses to breath again.
As for magical occurrence like vases falling down, you will not be able to make it happen without a cause. May it be the wind, another person, an earthquake or a comet falling down on your house

Unless you believe in Uri Geller. I've seen the bent spoons and a star sapphire ring owned by consciousness researcher Dr. Jean Houston, that she said he caused to crack.

could you really believe something 100% with out it happening...

like i can't fully believe 100% that i can fly until i'm actually flying...and because it takes me flying to believe 100% i can never get off the ground because i will never believe it.

" you believe something enough can you make it true? "

usually, as long as your belief is accompanied by determination, ingenuity and persistance.

"As in, if you really truly believed that your heart is stopping (with 100% of your being), could you actually cause it to stop? "

no, if you believed your heart was stopping (like on mushrooms or in a delusional state) it would probably not stop. however, through mastery of mental techniques you could lower your heart rate significantly. legend says that ancient ninjutsu masters could make their heart rates so slow that they appeared dead, or could hold there breath underwater for hours at a time...

*shrug*

but the majority of the time if you can concieve of it, you can do it.

How about russian Nina Kulagina? ( http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=Nina+Kulagina&btnG=Google+Search&meta= )apparently she moved items around under controlled experiments and even stopped a frogs heart (she also did other stuff). There are B&W video's on the net of it, search for them they aren't hard to find.

Oh, I forgot to mention...
You can convince yourself that your heart has stopped. (I've seen it happen to people who've smoked reefer for the first time.) While you may think your heart has actually stopped and your about to die, the rest of us will just think you should have started out with a joint instead of a gravity bong.
