I read on these website about moving things with your mind. I did it with a pinwheel. It was very cool! Anyone do any larger objects?

I don't neccessarily believe in telekinisis for I have yet to see it performed. Maybe you were hallucinating it.

Oh definately cool !! I started this back when I was 16 I think. Just made a new pinwheel a couple days ago. Have already spun the thing at least 20 times in a row, first night back. Of coarse, these last 3 days I havnt been able to be as consistant. Try it out...helps pass the time.

You can probably already guess what your mission is. Make the paper thing spin on the needle. Be really careful with this thing, it's extremely sensitive to wind and air currents. A whisper from 5 feet away can make it move. Just relax and let it flow like all the other exercises.
Of course, they don't tell you to put a glass bowl over it... probably 'cause they can never get it to spin that way. I have played with these pinwheels, and the warm air rising off my hands was enough to cause the thing to spin. It is trivial to convince yourself that something magical is going on, especially when you want to believe. However, when you start to play the scientist and remove all sources of external force (other than thought), the thing stops spinning.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that the "warm air" rising from your hands it enough to spin the wheel... you hand does not heat a very large area around it, as heat goes upwards and not horizontal.
Also, you shouldn't speak before doing even the tiniest bit of research...
Go to the aforementioned link, and proceed to the "media" section.
In there you will find precisely what you requested.
After practicing verrrry loosely for about 8 months+ I was able to move it under glass barriers. It did feel much more difficult, but I'de imagine it is purely a psychological barrier that will wear away with time.
For those of you looking to progress: Telekinesis is a very showy but ultimately useless talent which is why many people don't choose to invest the amount of time it requires to advance to a good level... Also, telekinesis practice is as I'm sure you can imagine, verrrry boring, at least at the begining stages(I'm still a beginner, so I don't know if it becomes easier with time...). TK is very interesting ... much can be extrapolated from confirmation of it's mere existance, but because it lacks real fruits other than a reeeealy impressive party trick(which ACTUALLY, may have been worth it after it , you'll most likely abandon it quickly and before much progress.
Good luck in whatever you decide.

If you don't like Randi, these three also have millions of dollars on the table awaiting the first ever demonstration of TK in a proper test:
The Premanand Challenge: http://www.indian-skeptic.org/html/rules.htm
The Australian Skeptics Challenge: http://www.skeptics.com.au/index.html
The Science and Rationalists' Challenge: http://humanists.net/avijit/prabir/sra.htm
I would LOVE for someone to win one. Seriously.

> It is HIGHLY unlikely that the "warm air" rising from your hands it enough to spin the wheel...
I have done it and you can do it too. Make a small pinwheel and balance it on the end of a pin. I used a small bit of aluminum foil on the end of a push pin. Put the pinwheel on a table away from drafts. Notice that it doesn't spin. Now, place you hand under one edge of the pinwheel. Notice that it starts to spin. Take your hand away and it stops again.
I noticed the above when I was using my hands to try and stop air flow from getting to the pinwheel. After a lot of work, I was able to isolate the position of my hand as the cause. After a lot more work, I was able to show that the warm air rising off my hand was spinning the pinwheel.
Yes, I showed it, not guessed. I constructed a schlieren system that allowed me to visualize the changes in air density around the pinwheel. It was very obvious that the air warmed by my hands was causing the pinwheel to spin. I could literally see the hot air rising off my hand and interacting with the pinwheel blades.
> as heat goes upwards and not horizontal.
Actually, no. If you want to debate science, I suggest you take a few college level science classes such as physics and chemistry. Heat does not go upwards... rather, cold air is more dense the warm air, thus in the presence of gravity, cold air will sink pushing the warm air upwards. Gravity is required. In the microgravity of space for example, hot smoke does not rise nor does cold air sink.
> Also, you shouldn't speak before doing even the tiniest bit of research...
Heh... I did quite a lot of research. It took me almost a week, and around $400 in optics (two large 6" parabolic mirrors), to build the schlieren system. I had a good lamp, some optics, power source, stand and slit already available which saved some money, but the mirrors were an expensive part of the setup.
> Why wait? Don't you wanna get rich?
There is always an excuse... it is such a hassle to collect a few million dollars that it is hardly worth it.
I am not debating Telekinesis, but I am defending my original post in which I claimed that the air warmed by my hand was enough to spin a pinwheel.

I stand corrected. I didn't realize your intention was to make the warm air rising from your hands spin it. Mission accomplished.

I do not wish to debate the mechanics of my statement, that was not the point I was trying to make.(I appreciate the info regardless)
"There is always an excuse... it is such a hassle to collect a few million dollars that it is hardly worth it. "
Correct. My excuse is that I'm unable to move any objects other than the pinwheel with regualarity, and can't consistently get it to move under barriers. Any advancement beyond the point that I am currently at(which has taken no real practice, just mere entertainment for several years) requires a solid half hour of practice a day for several months. TK practice is horrendously boring, especially to my erratic mind, and there's currently no incentive for me to go through with it. As for getting the prize monies.... Randi is a conman(topic not open for debate by me), any effort invested in getting his million would be a complete waste. As for the others, if I were ever to get better I'de visit as many places as my budget would allow me, but the fact that they have all this unclaimed money to display an easy and relatively common ability leads me to believe there's something fishy...
My take on TK: Go to psipog.net, read the beginners guides, try it out for as long as till you feel satisfied. If you don't get anything out of it, then move on.
Is it a surprise when a poor fisherman catches no fish?

You'd only have to move it once. And you could stipulate during the test design that you will have 100 tries. Or 1000. Or however many you need to demonstrate motion under the barrier just once. Just ONCE!
Do that, and you'll be rich... and I'll be very happy.
if I were ever to get better I'de visit as many places as my budget would allow me
I'm on record as offering to pick up the tab for all travel and lodging expenses for any skeptics organization's formal test of a paranormal power if the claimant passes the pretest (which comes to you, so you don't have to travel).
but the fact that they have all this unclaimed money to display an easy and relatively common ability leads me to believe there's something fishy
Nothing fishy. YOU design the test, not the skeptics. All the skeptics do is make sure you don't cheat. If you do what you say without cheating, you get the money. It really is that simple.
