"I'm on record as offering to pick up the tab for all travel and lodging expenses for any skeptics organization's formal test of a paranormal power if the claimant passes the pretest (which comes to you, so you don't have to travel)."
Excellent, I'll be sure to remember that.
To be realistic, I'm certain they would want a display of at least some degree of proficiency, such as being able to control it's various movements(speed, rotation). A single 360 degree would hardly suffice.
Also, people notorious do worse under high-stress conditions such as being under observation. As of now I don't fully understand how I'm doing it... it's like a weak muscle that requires training, the stronger it gets the better I can "feel" it.

As long as somebody can repeat it, then it works for me, no matter how small the effect is.

You're not reading me.
YOU, not the skeptics, design the test and the win/no-win criteria. This is all agreed to in advance, in writing. If you move the thing, you win the money.
All the skeptics do is make sure you don't cheat. There's nothing more. Stop complicating things.
Also, people notorious do worse under high-stress conditions such as being under observation
Ah, I didn't know this. I figured since you said TK is:
Quote:
an easy and relatively common ability
it would be a cakewalk to win the money.

I've noticed that I seem to have remote viewing experiences on acid, but not every time I trip. I wonder if I could get James Randi to supply me with enough acid to prove such abilities...

Thats a good question though, since the contestant chooses the criteria, could you use a psychadelic substance?
and maybe further, could you stipulate that the judges take the same compounds?:)

Weird-ass story.........
I have seen a hindi girl roll a full popcan into her hand when I was in highschool. Why, how, background:
SHe was the smartest person I have ever met(didnt belong in highschool, probably graduated two years early). SHe was a younger, oddly shaped hindi girl streight off the boat. I knew her through spanish class, and I was the only person who would talk to her,(thought she was interesting, partly because she could speak fluidly after the 1st year spanish session was over). All the kids hated her in every class because she knew all the answers, and did seem like a kiss-ass but actually just felt like she was engaged in a conversation with the teacher(she was VERY quite and uncomfortable unless she was talking to a teacher). I had her in gym class, and one day when we were sitting around and everyone else was playing basketball. I saw her outstretch her hand(hyper-extending her fingers) in the direction of a popcan about three feet away from her hand. It rolled right into her hand, and then she looked up at me instantly like she knew I was watching. She seemed freaked out that I had seen what she did. I wanted to go ask her about it. I should have, but I saw her reaction. No body ever cared about or watched what this girl was doing. She seemed quite tweaked out by the fact that I saw her do that. I hardly believe in telekinesis, although I can find room for theories as to why it is possible. I will never be able to explain what I saw that day. I wish I would have just asked her about it. If she would tell anyone about it, it would have been me and asking would put my mind at ease about the whole thing.
But ya......It did look like some special effects or some well executed magic trick you might see on TV. Maybe even the weirdest thing I have ever seen. This may sound like bullshit, but it was weird enough that I remember it years later. I am less tweaked out by it these days. I never could wrap my head around it though.

ravinoff, good to see you!!!!! this topic is so old, when you first showed me telekinesis i tried to propagate that info all over this site. i even remeber diploid arguing with me. nothing will change.
diploid, i'm not suggesting all skeptic challenges are rigged, but you should talk with poeple who've applied to take the james randi challenge. i've talked to poeple who've been turned down for no reason (no attempt at modifying the test so it wasn't for that reason), i've talked to poeple who said they successfully passed the pre-challenge (did what they said they were going to do) and were then turned down, and james randi has admitted to flat out lying about doing experiments that were never done/flat out lying about the flaws in other researchers experiments/accused of falsifying data in his own experiments. And of course he often relies soley on hyperbole and personal attacks, but i mean we all do that. all this info was gleaned from the net, although several sources were live chats with poeple who applied for the challenge.
ravinoff, funny you replied to this, i've been practicing again recently. if i get move a pen or something i think i'll try the swami challenge and those poeple in texas.

I just though I'd add my experience to this post, so I've been practising PK for a week maybe more and I have had definite results, even when my mouth and nose have been covered and my hands have been at a distance of 6 inches either side and the movement of the psi wheel isn't at all consistent with air currents, and I can choose when to let the wheel stop spinning, although at times I have made mistakes like breathing on it, I have also made the wheel wobble under a glass bowl.
From a psychological/philosophical point of view, current knowledge can not really explain how or why this works but if we accept that our minds are at least partly non physical and that mind a body interact, we see that something non physical can interact with something physical and vise versa.
Hope this helps

When I have more practice I will definitely try one of these challenges, I know at least when I practice I have been able to make the wheel move under a glass bowl but also when my hands are at a distance from the wheel so that should rule out heat coming from my hands, I have also made sure there are no drafts in the room and that my breath is not making the wheel move
