is it not possible that 'god' in whatever form you feel he exists has his 'own agenda'? not everybody on this planet has the same morals, and in fact every single person differs in at least one view ...

some people believe killing is rational, while many of us feel it is the most irrational thing ever ... i won't in fact even kill a spider, and i hate bugs and insects with a passion ... while other people can just smash it to pieces ... and then somebody else even will groove on the spider ..

everything is different ... when you speak of innocent children, it is still YOUR assumption based on what you experience empathetically with a child that it is unfortunate that such a sensitive creature has to suffer in this way or that ... it's still a human based emotion based on chemicals in your brain which translates into you feeling like the child is suffering ... suffering is just chemicals at work, the same as happiness or anything else ...

on the opposite end of the spectrum, happiness is also based on individual values, not on a universal order of things ... some people get off on hurting people, while others of us find it sickening ... it doesn't mean either is right or wrong as far as god or nature is concerned, it's just temporary human drama ...

i've lived with multiple diseases i was diagnosed with years back which i will deal with the rest of my life, and i still believe that suffering is essential to growth ... if you never made a mistake you'd never learn ...

and if the game of life was as easy as just being born and everything being great .. well that would be boring ... truly the point of reality seems the intense contrasts of all different aspects of life ... hide-and-seek with god himself to make each day interesting ...

whatever god is, the simple fact is that his comprehension is way beyond anything anybody on this planet can imagine ... so to try and assume his motives are this way or that seems to be a lost cause ...

just following the rhythm of life and not fighting agaunst the grain seems to be the more palatable way of getting day to day ...

just my .02 ... and on a final note, i don't think the forums need to be split up but i accept the change, i'm really indifferent unless the moderating becomes 'nazi-ish' but i doubt it will ..

great post.

you spoke of god's motive in the beginning...and what if....all there is, is god...

and so...god was bored with himself so he decided to separate himself into us...which would mean parts of himself would have to suffer...while other parts would experience happiness....

sooo....

us being all part of god...wouldn't him wanting to feel company instead of loneliness through us, be all-loving, even though some of us have to suffer while other are submerged into bliss.

Spirituality is about discussing, analyzing, and critiquing your beliefs to see if they make sense and changing them if they don't. This is fully compatible with philosophy; indeed, it is the core of philosophy.

Spirituality and philosophy coexist naturally. It is this forum that is dysfunctional.

Philosophy

n 1: a belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school [syn: doctrine, philosophical system, school of thought, ism] 2: the rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics 3: any personal belief about how to live or how to deal with a situation; "self-indulgence was his only philosophy"; "my father's philosophy of child-rearing was to let mother do it"

I would respectfully submit that the two words mean very different things, although you could sloppily group "spirituality" beneath a very inclusive definition umbrella of "philosophy."

words themselves don't mean anything...

they are purely symbolic and their meanings are different for everyone.

words really do not mean anything though...they are just a sound or thought that are in our mind (singular on purpose) that symbolize something.

Ahhhhhh the new rules....

/me coughs

I like rule #1... but let me go off on rule #2 for a bit.

I respect my cock'n balls WAY more than I respect that stupid fucking attempt at crowd control.

THANK GOD I respect my cock'n balls... or else I would not be respectful enough for the new (S&)P, and therefore would have just broken the rules!

Are you guys actively TRYING to repeat the same mistakes you have made in the past? Who came up with rule #2?

Were you even listening to what the public wanted?

Of all the vague, subjective rules you could have slipped in there...!

I don't get it.

Why two forums then?

With all due respect, please explain.

yeah rule #2 is vague....

respect is pretty vague in itself...

also... shouldn't respect be earned not given?

And all this time, you thought words had no meaning...

People get along better when allowed to, rather than when they are FORCED to.

dude...

they don't have meaning...we GIVE them meaning....

'they' themselves don't have anything...they are just symbols that are made into sounds/ideas...

no on ever has the same meaning for a word as anyone else...we all have our personal connotations to that word from personal experience....

i totally agree with getting along better than when forced too...

it's that whole....rules were meant to be broken thing.

edit: to correct for my drunken typos.

with out meaningless words we would have none of this...no philosophy...no shroomery...no nothing...

with out symbols/words...we'd still be monkeys with very little awareness.
