There was nothing racist about what she said. Let's break it down.


Almost everyone I've talked to says we're going to move to Houston. Nothing racist there.

... What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Nothing racist there. A lot of people with no money, no job skills, little ambition and no belongings mean that Texas will have to absorb a large blow.

Everybody is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And why wouldn't they be. Nothing racist there.

And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this -- this is working very well for them. Sounds about right. They'll get federal and state handouts, job training, charity and probably a great deal more. Why is it hard to imagine this working for their (fiscal) benefit? No racisim there either.



You'd have to be deliberately race baiting or blind to leap to the conclusion that Bab's is a racist.

You are right. Some people have wired themselves (or been brainwashed by public schools and the media) to see racism superimposed upon any act or words of those they may have a disagreement with or dislike for.

I agree that the comment isn't overtly racist.

However, this comment:

is incredibly stupid.

Homes flooded, family and freinds killed, jobs gone, people displaced from their naitive (and culturally unique) city. This is clearly not "working very well for them".

Yeah, Ive been forced to read that quote dozens of times now and I don't see anything that makes a reference to african-americans.

She says "underpriviledged" and it seems most people think that means "black". I think that is more racist than anything.
