Are you going to donate to help New Orleans?
    #4604980 -

I was going to, but I don't think I will now.

I have heard that the looting is very widespread. I even heard that people were leaving the Superdome to go loot. Fucking scumbags. It appears as if some of the people of New Orleans don't deserve help.

I hope the looters get water-borne diseases and die.

Yes, lemme just take a chunk out of my now oversized gas portion of my budget to help some people covered in water.

the superdome was evacuated .

you got no food, ,no drinkable water, flooding, dead bodies floating around you...fuck that

looting is a right as long as its food and necessities

I will not donate, but only because I'm very poor myself. If I didn't begin school next week, I'd volunteer with humanitarian efforts. I see no problem with the looting going on. As long it's not from homes or mom-and-pop stores, though.

I would totally loot food and necessities if there was a huge hurricane.
I mean why the fuck not? You would die without. And it's not like the companies lose anything from it.

Alot of the people that evacuated are in my town so we can almost help them out directly. Our city is letting them stay in any income based housing that is vacant for free.

I will probably send bottled water. That is what they are requesting here.

Alot of the people down there in the low income areas have not even seen any help what so ever. The help that people are getting is very selective. Did none see the news where cops were just driving by people stranded on a bridge not offering them anything. One man actually jumped off the bridge and commeted suicide because he could no longer tolerate it. They have no shade water or anything. People with newborns and one women in labor. People down there are in need but how do you know it's even going to help the most desperate.

I won't donate but not because of looting. Because the real looters are the ones that try and collect $$$ for charity. I don't know if I could even trust the Red Cross. I would volunteer if I wasn't in tech school though just to get a chance to see whats up.

Total abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. In my passion for it I even carry it so far as to totally abstain from total abstinence itself.

What about giving your money to people who need it more?

Like.... outside America?

I give money to organizations that help foreigners when something really bad happens (the Indian Ocean Tsunami for example). But, I would rather give money to my fellow Americans than to foreigners.

The looting makes perfect sense to me. Look, all the flooded businesses are an insurance write-off regardless if the hurricane victims "steal" the shit or the contractors dump the soggy ruins in a landfill. I, for one, would be looting as much food and cash or whatever the fuck as I wouldn't have the relative sanity to figure out what would truly serve me best too loot.

PS
I'm currently working a tornado reconstruction effort in the SE and may well be soon working a rebuild in LA. (ah, construction is truly a business that will never run dry) A coworker of mine that I room with is ROTC and found out today he will be called to active National Guard duty and will start on dead body retrieval missions.

You rather give money to Americans to built a new house than to people who die from hunger? Only because they live in the same country? The American gov has all the power and money to help those people who really need it.

There is a difference between a child stealing a piece of chocolate and an adult breaking into a store and loading up on DVD players.

Putting words in my mouth.

At least we know you're good at something.

If I was a small business owner I wouldn't hesitate to do shoot a robber. I'd do the same if somebody was robbing my house. I don't see a problem with it, the robber knew he was taking a risk so fuck him.

Use whatever justification you want to. I don't take what is not mine. I am not a thief and I have no tolerance for thieves.

True, but killing fellow humans for stealing from Wal-Mart? C'mon, now.
