1st attempt at spore print

yesterday i made my first attempt at making a print and failed miserably. i let one of my biggest, best babies mature until the gills changed from beige to a darker color. got a big piece of tin foil and lysoled it. i used this to cover my counter top area. got a smaller piece of tinfoil to actually lay the cap on and lysoled it. also got a glass and lysoled the inside of it. place the glass on top of the foil and went to pick my baby. had on plastic gloves that were clean. twisted the stem while holding the cap and came apart easily. placed cap immediately under glass on foil. left for a couple hours and came back to find the cap had turned jet black and slimy.
guess i was too sterile.
i also made some honey water last night to "grow" my last cc of spores. and assembled a new "grow room" with 5 shelves and 21.5 cubic feet of grow area. bought a digital therm/humidity gauge.
on a roll now! wish me luck

Rubbing alchohol is more effective and won't leave a residue. Just be certain it's all evaporated first.

Exactly. If there is some residue of the solvent, the mushroom will turn into gunk.

You've got a glittery smile I see sparkling... Too sterile? Nah, the lysol is great stuff to rain on airborn glittery thingy's (ouy can see them sparkling in rays of light through the morning window).
