Jammer here:
Did you follow the PF Tek for the jar preps? Are you saying that you opened the sterlized jars in the glovbox and scraped the spores on top of the 1/4" vermiculite surface? Or did you not use any vermiculite for the upper most surface of the BRF jars?

Yeah man, just like you were printing except it won't take 24 hrs. more like 4.
I don't use jars though. I use the same trays that I use for casings (from walmart) with a clear plastic lid. I double the foil around the cap leaving about a 1/2" gap around three sides. I wrap a couple of papertowels wraped in foil in the oven at 300 deg for 20 min with my print foil and tray. Then I put the foil squares and the sterile paper towel(without the foil covering) into the tray and cover it. As soon as it cools, I add the caps. The dry paper towel will draw the moisture out of the cap causing it to drop a nice dark print in 24 hrs. Sometimes I bake another paper towel half way through and replace the moist one (using oven tek).
Works great so far. Let me know if you'd like to try a couple of my prints. Hope that helps.

yeah i take the lids off, i put full gloves and a gerbil cage fan w/hepa in my box, after i have use anti-bac/microbe spray , its as clean as it is gonna get, no verm , just plain rye, rye for spawn, i m using lil-sac-o-shit tek from lil shop o spores , you should check it out...
ironically the first time i tried shrooms i used syringes i made, i thought i was sterile, i think it was a dirty print , but all the jars went bad, it is wierd, maybe it is were i live, but my contams dont have visual cues, i never see a mold or anything , just a bad smell and a receding line of good fungus, i live in southern new mexico,,, go figure

Shit, I'm sorry! - I just realized that you said in a previous reply that the jars were of rye grain... (not brown rice flour)
hmm... very interesting (gears turning)
If this tek works the way you say, it could drasticly cut turn around times.
Thanks for the input, I greatly apreciate it.

Here is what I have found to work really well. And I have shiteloads of spore prints stocked up. Havent had any contams yet.
I buy those little 1/4 pint / 4oz. jars. I pressure cook them along with my syringes I am re-using along with anything else I may need to pressure cook.
After everyhting has cooled down. I take the pressure cooker to my work table, which has been thoroughly cleaned with some alcohol. I always wear gloves, haircover, and dust mask.
Then i simply go to my terr and pick the best looking caps, cut them off, pick them up with a needle and immediately drop them in the jars and seal.
Within 24 hours there is usually a very dark print there(Some people say 12, but you will get a lot more spores with 24 hours)
Then when you are ready and have boiled distilled water. Simply squirt it in the small jar, shake it up and bit, and draw the goodies out.
I have only had 1 contaminated jar out of 100 so far/ knock on wood.

swami-I use the same garbage bag set up, glad to see,
but I spray with H2O2 50/50 cut with water...
hands too up to my forearms...got the idea from
the old photographer film change bag of a few years ago..
although I have a flow-hood, I am out in the open kitchen,
with clean tek and my peroxide...a few hundres jars to date with
NO contams...I do my agar and master transfers in the hood....
treat my liquid mycelia innoc. with 3 ml 3% H2O2 in 2 cups broth..
before using it to expand......offered as just a suggestion...
wow---wonder if mr. finger ever read about sterile technique...??

"I never know if i'm sterile enough."..............not this time you weren't..
even though you washed your hands there were still about a zillion
bugs on them....and into the liquid....all may not be lost if you can get some mycelia going before the contams..
you can try isolating it to a liquid culture containing peroxide to kill the nasties, if any, maybe you really LUCKED,,
then innoc. some new grain jars, with a cleaned up culture....
wear a glove next time, use sterile toolz, don't breath, and keep your appendanges outta the recipe...
what were you thinkin'? and give swami bag tek a try....
you can put a very pro hood together for about $ 150. { 24 x 12 } w/ about a 500 cfm fan.
anyway...luck to ya. hey..where did you get Malabar spores ???? Reports.
I just have not heard of that one......they're everywhere.....everywhere...I tell you.....care......farmer.

Most people like my prints so....here is what i do.
I take Alum foil and wipe it with Alcohol.....put it in a Zip lock Container (the big long ones with the blue lids)...they work great.
Let the Alcohol dry (if the alcohol isn't dry it will mess up the print).
Spray the hell out of the kitchen with Lysol.....My kitchen is always clean....btw.
Go get my mushrooms....cut the caps off....place the caps on a sterile cutting board.
Open the Ziplock container lid and place the mushroom cap on the foil.
Close the lid.
Wait 24 hours.....check the print.
Usually they are done....Very dark prints.
I Lysol the room again.....Open the Container take the caps out.
Close the lid and let the print dry for a day or 2.
Then I Lysol the room again.....take the prints out.
Fold them.....Mark the Alum foil with Name of the Strain....Date....and my Name.
Then i put them in a Index card file.
I have never had a complaint about my prints...just compliments
