2nd attempt at prints..... how many syringes per

so, i finally got another mushroom worthy of printing
(most of my cakes grow tons of smaller mushrooms, but sometimes i get a cake that just puts out about 2 or 3 BIG ass mushrooms rather than the usual 10 smaller ones)
the 1st attempt at this failed MISERABLELY.... the mushroom rotted in the jar i was printing in.. (i used the laminated card under the glass jar tek)
now in light of what some wiser than I said, im printing the cap in the jar (a la PFtek print) with a piece of paper towel layed over the top....
Lets hope all goes well this time....
im a bit worried about contams tho....
i flamed all my instruments, wiped the area + the jar with EtoH.... wore gloves and all that good stuff.....
but there was still a good amount of time where the jar was exposed to room air...
how sterile are all of yall when u do prints/syringes?
this is the only step i have yet to conquer....
it seems simple enuff, but apparently its not that easy... i screwed it up my 1st time....
ah well, i will see in about 12 hours....
hopefully my mushroom will not rot again.....

oh, 1 more question, from a print the size of a 1/2 dollar, how many 10cc syringes can i get out of it?
i really dont care if its dark or light, i just want good viable syringes.....
im going to be trying the karo tek once i get some viable syringes....

When making prints, it always pays to be as sterile as possible. If your jar wasn't sitting open to the elements for too long, I think you should be just fine. How long was the jar exposed?

Your half-dollar sized print should make many, many syringes for you. Estimate about the area of a match head for each syringe.

Instead of a jar, you might use those small light cheap microwave throw away type Glad or Tupperware containers to make a print under.

Just swab one out with lysol or alcohol before you use it. I cut a hole in them, to use & covered the hole with filter material. A jar is heavy, can create a seal that traps in lots of moisture.

You have to be your own judge, how many syringes a print will make.

Even if a cap is BIG, sometimes they lay a very faint spore print. Other times they lay a thick one. It is all in the amount of spores it lays down. A big cap that, lays a thick print will will get you many many syringes.

Mickey R is correct. If the print laid well, a match head size area of spores -- is great for a single syringe. So, you can get 15 or 20 syringes off a big ass cap, very easy.

i think ill try that for my 3rd attempt.. im waiting for the veil to completely tear as we speak... the cap is a bit smaller, but i need the practice......
hopefully this 1st print will be non-contaminated......
