interesting? thought on mega bulk cultivation

I wasnt sure if this would be at all possible or whether or not i had the right forum for this, but i'll give it a shot anyway. I have a friend of a friend of a friend who bails hay using a round bailer and then wraps the bails with thick plastic wrap. Leaving these wrapped bails out in the sun creates a product called "haylage" which is similar to silage - corn stalks that have been naturally fermented to make them more easily digested by cattle.
My friend has never noticed any mold or anything growing inside these bails (my guess is that the plastic wrap prevents airflow needed for large scale infection to occur.)
My question is whether it could be possible to open up a hole in the plastic wrap of such a bail and insert a large quantity of grain spawn (many gallons), seal up the hole enough to prevent light from directly contacting the wrapped contents, allow the spawn to colonize the entire bail, and then cut holes in the sides of the plastic wrap to allow fruits to develop on the outside of the bail.

Could something like this work, or would it be neccesary to find a way to pasteurize the hay before it was wrapped (or possibly after by injection of steam from a hot water heater or some other method.)

Sorry that this post is (more than likely) misplaced and (more than likely) rambling, but there is a reason that the call it "hay fever"

You would need a way to add water to the bail, and I don't know if hay is as good of substrate as straw.

Hay is useless, and this isnt an advanced topic, theres a mushroom cultivation section for a reason.

not to mention it is decomposing anaerobically judging by the fact that there is no oxygen getting into it and it is bailed wet then wrapped in plastic

look if you wanted to grow mass mushies out of hay then i would suggest just ordering about a gallon of panaeleous subbalteatus solution or make it into liquid myc solution and put that in an effing turkey baster and stick it all in the sides of the hay then just unwrap the bail a week later and spray it down with the hose every now n then .
