I've just prepared my jars and....

I ran out of substrate material... Can i just cover the jars I've alread done with aluminum foil over night before sterilizing? so i get some more substrate and sterilize them all at the same time?

Thats what I did and it was sterile til the mushies came and then they turned black.

why would they not show any sign of contaminates and then just turn black?

Why don't you just sterilize them right now? A day won't be much of a difference.

I've never had a problem, waiting until the next day to PC jars.

My neighbor's Donkey soaked some finch seed and oat groats overnight, then rinsed and boiled them. He ran out of jars and let part of the pot set for a day. Then found some nice tupperware containers (1 quart) that would fit in his P.Cooker and P. Cooked the Finch Seed mix for 45 minutes at 15 psi. Let it cool overnight, then stuck uhm in the morning with 5cc of spore water. That crazy Donkey has stuck them in a homemade incubator made from a big old Coleman cooler with an aquarium heater stuck in a pickle jar inside. So far his temps are around 85-90*F. Guess we'll see in a couple of days if the Finch seed mix works. The Donkey used PES Amazonian Cubies. I'll let you know how it turns out.
