The only real advantage it has is that I can differentiate between lots of different tastes, some that may be too subtle for someone else. For example, with wines and liquors.

It even effects smoking habits; I can't take a drag off a cigarette, and schwag literally hurts my tongue, like lots of little needles.

Picky eaters are really just pussies. Some things really are acquired tastes...you can't just eat one thing one time and decide you don't like it...its also a state of mind, if you remember you don't like tomatoes for example, and then someone says try this, and you know its got tomatoes on it, and you eat it expecting to not like it, you aren't even really giving it a chance. So grow up and don't be such a fuckin pussy

I think it's called a somolier? Or something like that. I don't think that's really something I'd be interested in. It seems quite pretentious.

It can be frustrating... as HELL sometimes.

Take me for example.. I will eat virtually anything, short of waste products.
I try to have a vegetarian diet, but if I am starving, and someone offers me a dish with meat in it, I'll eat it, or kindly say no thanks. I don't bitch to them about how I'm a vegetarian and that's not good enough..

But when someone limits YOUR diet and the things YOU like because of what THEY want or dont want.. that's when it gets hostile. Either eat it or shut up, that's how I feel.

Yeah, I understand that it can be inconvenient to others, but am I really a "fucking pussy" because I don't like tomatoes?

If you plan on answering yes, just don't answer.

IME, picky eaters were made that way by their parents.

I grew up in a home that ate MANY different kinds/types of food, today there are very few things that I don't like because of it.

I once worked with this 50 year old guy who HATED vegetables and would even pick little flecks of veg out of meat dishes.

He ended up with loads of bowl problems and had to have a lot of surgery done.

Don't know what happened to him, he might be dead now as it was a few years back...

Yep, that seems to be the common theme with vegetable haters.

Bowel problems > heart disorder > Death

I had a friend who died from congestive heart failure.. because he refused to eat fruits or veggies. Practically lived on meat and cheese. Well.. lived for a very short time on them. he was 32.

I hate to preach but vegetables are good for more than on occasion. There are so many different kinds... try new ones, and try mixing it up. There are vegetables I am not too fond of.. and some that I absolutely love. But your tastes do change over time, so it is a good idea to try stuff all the time, even if you tried it before and didn't like it. I hated tomatoes and pineapples when I was a kid. Sometimes they even made me sick. It turned out to be a mental thing..
