A couple of weeks back I was with some friends and I suggested ordering some food.

One of my friends was vegetarian so meat was out of the question so I asked everyone what they fancied.

One friend said he couldn't eat onions. I asked him if he was allergic to them but no, he just didn't like onions.

Next guy says he doesn't like tomatoes apart from ketchup, so basically pizzas out of the equation.

I suggest curry or chinese and someone else starts whining that they don't like spicy food.

In the end we just ate oven fries!

anise is an herb, a member of the carrot family. It is purportedly the true taste of licorice. It is an antiseptic, antispasmodic, soporific, carminative, and mild expectorant.

You know, some people (like myself) have an uncommon amount of tastebuds, and strong tasting foods like onion and garlic are physically impossible to eat.

I'm serious; google the term 'super tasters'.

All google said was it makes you able to distinguish tastes better. When you said it's impossible to eat garlic, is it just because it makes it more intense or spicier or whatever taste garlic has?

ok, I can see that.

But do you have any idea how good garlic and onions are for you?

And when they are cooked they lose a lot of their "kick"

It's too powerful; I can't put even the smallest amount in my mouth.

Is there a lot of stuff that's too powerful for you to eat? I never really gave it any thought because I have an average number of tastebuds, I guess.

Yes. Garlic is too strong.

Even when it's mixed with other stuff? In a cooked dish?

Yes, I'm primarily relegated to eating bland foods. Nothing with very strong tastes. That rules out a lot of spicy and sweet foods.

Yes. I can seriously taste the most trace amount.

Well damn, that just sucks.

I would cut or burn half my tastebuds off if I couldn't eat garlic or any spicy foods. Oh wait thats what eating spicy foods does.. nevermind.

They was alot of stuff in my youth that I just hated but as I've grown I think my pallett has matured and I enjoy way more stuff and will try just about anything.

For instance I used to hate wine, but now it tastes like a virgins peach to me.
