Those are not Panaeolus subbalteatus...
all species of Panaeolus print black.

Post some pics of the gills. The rings look more like foes' and they are growing in grass. Foes are coming up in grass like crazy now and they look just like that. Rub the spore print on that white paper- if it's brown, it should show. If its black, it will be black no matter how much you spread it around.

Stems look a little too dark to be foes. I vote sub. Subs grow on grass too its just that foesenscii won't grow on manure and subbalteatus will.

Look like subbs, but it's hard to tell. The bugs are NOT harmless, they are disgusting, at the least. Some otherwise edible mushrooms have killed people, because of "heart worm" and so forth. I don't know alot about that, but it would be safe to check it out. Clean them, for sure.

Print all of them and weed out all of the ones that print brown. Also, I suggest you blend them up, it takes a lot of subbs to get there. If you blend up a variety of citrus fruits you can make smoothies that look good but don't taste half bad.

there not subbs just because the print is black dont mean a thing in this case some foes have a black print im almost positve if you eat those you could get sick and die like i almost did from horse dung shrooms and some guy on here claims that horse pies have pann stubbs and lawns if so why was the ones i ate not active they were from horse pies what were those i ate anyways thats off topic but the caps you have look brown and the stems are too white they look dark because they were in the air rotting somewhat those aint black gills there dark brown and the ring on those caps looks alittle wide to me nice try though and steve you need to do more research cause to be asking dumb questions you already should know like is it the right season for stubbs theres not alot here anymore well theres not alot here infact not any ever was in front of this computer screen and there shoudent be 1 no spores and 2 made of plastic and metal not a good medium the reason there aint alot or any near you is because there shouldent be people outta know when and where they should be buy now and not ask people why active mushrooms are not there lol hey were not there ether so dont feel so bad

wow, learn how to punctuate please. If you eat 20 caps and they turn out to be foes then you wont get sick. they could be subbs.

When I read jgi420b's post, I feel like a valley girl, who can't slow down her speech pathology habits.

They look like lawnmower mushrooms. Very easily confused with subbs.
