The Mushroom Movie

:mushroom2:hi guys!  i've been a member for a short while now, this community is so great and informative i've never had to post to ask any questions.  anyways, the purpose behind this post is to do a little brainstorming session on an idea that i have.

I was deep in contimplation the other night, and i got thinking... there are so many drug movies out there with every single drug known except a good mushroom movie.  to the best of my knowledge, i have never heard of a mushroom movie (if there is one, please someone let me know).  so i propose, that us at the shroomery, which probably has the best and most informed minds on the topic, come up with a great idea to write a screen play on our favorite organisms from our mother earth. 

so guys (and gals), lets put our heads together and see if we can come up with an idea that will be entertaining as well as informative  that may shed some light on our subculture.  i know this can turn out to be something great if we get all of you mushroom experts, and all of our creative genius out here on this post. 

so lets have fun and see what we can think of! :mushroom2:

What would you make a movie about, how would you make one about mushrooms? If it's gonna be a giggling stoner movie like half baked, forget it. Mushrooms get a bad enough rap as it is. If you want to make some really good, than right on.

Shit yeah i'd see a movie about that. I'd just really hope they would do it right. If it was something strickly about mushrooms than it'd almost have to be serious... or maybe make the movie follow a couple people in a parallel lifeline type thing from the beginnings to the end of their mushroom adventure.. that'd be pretty cool

It would be pretty hard to make a real good movie about mushrooms, and probably harder to get a mainstream audience, but you never know.

"Gone with the spores" would be fun, "Shroomgate" would be an excellent sci-fi movie. But probably, the most interesting would be "shroomer vs. shroomer" :yesnod:

i'd like to do something that could accurately portray the mushroom subculture. definetly don't want to go with something goofy or stupid humor, something serious that's scary and humorous at the same time. that would represent the roller coaster ride of a trip and get a good message across about us trippers. i'm sure it will be a difficult task, but i hope with the help of you guys, we can make it happen. keep the ideas coming... great so far!!!

This would definitely have to be a movie shot on DV unless someone has money to actually spend on professional film equipment. That being said, all you would need is a good story, a cast and a crew. The story could be about some people on their way to a Grateful Dead concert (or any concert), things happen, etc. Or the people are trying to get to a party, things happen. Or people go on a camping trip and things happen. Of course in the movie there would be a shroom experience, but definitely not throughout the whole thing. I think an up-to-date documentary about the shroom culture would be better :smile:

my vote goes to a gathering scenerio like vinsue said. ive personally never been to one but someday i will. just an idea to throw out there. you have storylines of a few people and then they all meet up at a gathering and it shows how they can bring people together. also i think it should be full of the crazy thoughts/ideas people can come up with while shrooming.

I would want to make one that started at the beginning of the mushroom timeline. Where it would show the story of like Gordon Wasson and all those original scientist types who discovered the mushroom through studying the natives who used it as their religious sacrament. If anyone has seen "the Motorcycle Diaries" you might understand the type of movie I'm talking about.

Alejandro Jodorowsky's "The Holy Mountain is pretty much a mushroom movie - the whole cast and crew went through a massive mushroom trip during the making - and the film itself is a giant metaphorical trip.

You'll have to order it from Japan or Italy though (I got mine from Italy, it has an English language track, as the Japanese copies blur out the nudity) due to Allen Klein (yes of Beatles notoriety) holding the film to ransom.

i really really like the idea of a documentary on the whole shroom subculture. that would probably work the best. where would be some good places to start searching for ancient uses? also what are some good books that you guys have read about our subculture? i guess i better get started!! thanks guys! keep the opinions coming!

This reminds me of my latest trip, I was walking with my friend through a crowded fair ground. We got to my car, he turns to me and said "That walk would make THE COOLEST movie"

So... apparently my friend is with you on this idea.
