"Magical Mystery Tour" the movie
    #1459904 - 04/15/03 12:26 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

I finally got my copy of "Magical Mystery Tour" the movie. I held off buying it for so long thinking that they would eventually re-release it. Well, they never did and it went out of print, so I figured i'd better buy it somewhere while I still can. I ordered mine from ebay from a guy in Russia.

Well I really liked the movie of course. It's really surreal and psychedelic of course. Basically it's just the Beatles running around everywhere stoned all the time. The plot is basically that people take a "trip" on a magical bus that takes them to different places. These places are where the videos of the "MMT" songs are shown. Not every song from "MMT" is in the movie. I was surprised to not see the "Strawberry Fields Forever" video. I know it exists.

While I do like this movie, it's BEGGING for a re-release. The company that put out this DVD didn't improve the movie at all. The picture isn't really improved. It's just a copy of the original film. There are no extras at all. It seems almost like a bootleg. I'd like to see "All You Need Is Love" and "Strawberry Fields.." added as well as things that all DVD's have such as trailors, "The making of....", etc..

If you like the Beatles as much as I do, you'll love this movie. A casual Beatles fan won't think this is anything special. But I like it because if nothing else, it's footage of The Beatles during their greatest time period. The time when they were psychedelic Gods.

I liked the "BlueJay Way" video, but I thought they could have made that a little more psychedelic. It's one of the trippiest songs on the album.

The fog and everything was cool, but I thought it could have been trippier.

You're thinking of Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. And no, you couldn't pay me enough money to watch that crap.

Prince: I watched it on some kind bud, but that's it. If you're not a big Beatles fan, start out with "Yellow Submarine". It's 100x trippier because it's a cartoon. Like I said, if you don't like The Beatles that much, then "MMT" is not for you.

"Magical Mystery Tour" the movie was supposidly unsuccessful. That's why I think it hasn't been re-released.

Hell, they haven't ever even put out "Let It Be" on video(I think) or DVD either.

You'd think there would be a big enough market for both of them since it is The Beatles, but who knows.
