Ive just finsihed reading this book. I think its one of the cleverest books i have ever read. Anyone got any comments about it? Im sitting in front of my telescreen and Big Brother is watching me. I know How but i just dont know Why

Its a cracking book - if you enjoyed that one, try out Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, or The Handmaiden's Tale (i forget the author). Both are the same kind of theme, and have some scarily familiar ideas.

It is a very good book. If you liked it I'd recommend

Burgess; A Clockwork Orange
Orwell; Animal Farm,
Huxley; Brave New World
Atwood; Oryx and Crake.

All very dystopic and enjoyable books.

Theres also a movie based on the book. I would say its ok, but nothing compared to the feeling you get from the book.

i met margret atwood once at a book-fair in gothenburg, sweden. she was a very strange woman, to say the least.

but in addition to the previous recommendations, i'd recommend Island by Aldous Huxley. Actually, i'd recommend island over brave new world. Huxley was always a bit disappointed about brave new world being his big success - there is an essay he wrote called 'brave new world revisited' where he discuss his discontent with the book, and in my mind, island (his last book, if i recall properly) surpasses those problems.

also i'd highly recommend the glass bead game by herman hesse.
