Hello, this was my first find of the year and it was by accident. I was biking with my wife and came upon there in someones front lawn.

Description: Habitat: Lawn in a suburban area, beside a tree stump, no other trees around, Easter-Ontario, Canada. Gills: Gills are not attached and are fairly close together, black on the outer edges and grey towards the centre. Cap: 2-4cm diameter, coffee stain coloured cap, textured with lines going from the centre to the outer edges of the cap. Stem: hollow stem, 3-6cm in lenght, thin, creamy white colour Spore Print looks purplelish black to me. bruises brown or not at all. smells like a mushroom to me??
Thanks and let me know if you need more info/pics.

Those actually look nothing like Coprinus micaceus to me... but I've never seen them in person and I really don't know much about them at all... [url=http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Coprinus_micaceus.html] thats Coprinus Micaceus. I've got the same thing in my lawn though, I've seen them near tree stumps and stuff.
What was the one you said (sorry, I'm almost totally unfamiliar with nomenclature) "coprinus sp."? Could you give me a full name maybe? I like researching them.

"coprinus sp." = a species of the genus Coprinus. I agree that they are Coprinus. I don't know which species.
