does this cake tea work?

high guys,

this recipe says to boil your cake for 10 min to get a tea out of it. does it work? can i use a cake with vermaculite in it?

i made too many Jars (thinking i'd get contams but none of them did) i dont have any extra room in my fruiting chamber. im only planning on doing one grow because i want to get this done as fast as possible for security reasons.

basically i dont really care ethier way i was just curious if it did work and it was not poisonous because of the vermaculite. maybe i should just throw em out i guess. (not going to put them outside due to some factors i can't control)

Some people would just rather not take the legal risk of actually growing shrooms, as colonizing jars are much easier to hide.

crypta, If I were you I would just use whole grain brown rice, with either tyvek or a dry verm layer on the top for contam protection, then after it's good and colonized, just eat it.

I have a friend who does that, and trust me, it works.

Just cook the rice like the instructions say, maybe adding a little but more water. Do not add salt or butter however.

After that, just treat them like grains, and only fruit when you need to make spore prints.

it does work

slightly boil your cake for 10 minutes, pour the liquid through a strainer into your cup. shouldnt have much verm/brf if at all after being strained. Verm/BRF is not poisonus and will not harm you

wow that is actually a very interesting idea! 5+ im gonna have to try that out. hehehehe gives a whole new meaning to wild rice. (yeah yeah i know still brown rice but funny none the less!)

when you say slightly boil, are you talking about taking it to a full boil then dropping it in for 10 min OR bring to a full boil then back it down to a simmer and drop it in for 10 min oooor something else? 5+ for you!

I've never had success with cake tea, but that is just my experience. I'm sure it works if done right, or with multiple cakes.

now lets see just how good this OJ thing works....

oh yeah and so far i've just been letting it sit in OJ but do you guys think it would be helpful to set the OJ to a simmer as well? or just let it soak for a few more hours? :confused:

    this is going to be my absolute first tripping experience sooo just to put my mind at ease... this is safe to eat right? it was all white and i injected it with B+ so i dont think it has any contams... plus it had that "mushroom" smell.

again hehe... i dont want to go into my first trip thinking i ate something that can kill me..  :frown:

No, it will not kill you unless it's covered in nasty brown or black mold/fungi. Even then it just might make you really sick.

i've been letting it sit in the frig for 4 hours now... should i let it heat up to room temp at all?

should i boil it to get more actives out of it?

boiling it to much will  destroy everything.  I tried it and over boiled I must have because 3 cakse to 2 cups I drank one and nothing. So u can boil it.  Which the directions say to just don't over boil it. and make sure that shit is not at all contaminated oh oh that would be bad. :thumbup:
