 Has anyone ever actually extracted psilocybin?

I have read a lot of questions about alkaloid extraction from mycelium but no real answers. has anyone ever actually done it? i'd love to hear a trip report or two on extracted psilocybin.

I few years ago I started to cultivate some pf cakes and got paraniod before the little guys into the grow house. Haven't tried to grow since, but, anyway, me and a buddy soaked a cake a piece in cranberry juice. I guess it was just some crangrape or something. After filtering the stuff through a CLEAN sock, we drank the brew. The taste wasn't too bad, and we got off quite nicely. It was more a body buzz at that level. It was quite a clean trip, and had some nice moments of intensity. The next night I tried it with the girl I was dating then. I thought soaking longer would make it stronger, but, it detensified it. She even complained, and she didn't do it the night before. We also split four cakes between the two of us.
So I guess if you're to do this, just soak them about ten-fifteen minutes, and take immediately!!! The liquid will be like half red, half pink. the mycelium sits at the bottom, and looks kinda neat. Constantly shake as you consume. That's all I know.

I dont see the point.... why not just eat them..... i know one guy that tried.... he was making an alcoholic drink with shrooms, pot, various seeds.... but something went wrong

i haven't bothered trying but i believe that psilocybin is alcohol soluble. so grind up some dry stuff, throw it into a bottle of vodka, shake vigorously, and let sit for a while... then evaporate as much as is needed to sufficiently concentrate it... i am sure there is a tek about it somewhere!

everyone seems to know it can be done or have heard it been done but nobody at the shroomery has actually tried it?
i know hoffman and gartz did some work and did it successfully without much ado.
i'd much rather eat the shrooms myself, but i am wondering if the high is any different with extracted psillystuff.

from what ive heard, its the same as DMT extraction - you get the mushroom, submerge them in enthanol or methanol and wait for a couple of days, strain it, leave the liquid for a couple more days and the methanol/ethanol disappears and you are left with the alkaloids...yum yum yum

I have prepared the cranshroom juice twice and experienced the trip twice. Simply search for the 'psilocybin cranberry extraction' on a search engine and you'll find the technique I used. The first time I did this was back in May I had 2 bags of well colonized rye berries. I added about 2 tablespoons of crushed Vitamin C(acetic acid) pills to the 64 oz. of cranberry juice I had and mixed it even. With some extra sense among the simple procedure I submersed the colonized substrate in the juice while continually swishing around and smashing/breaking up the substrate with a spoon. After about about a half hour, I figured that was enough and used a metal mesh grater type of thing to filter back into the cranberry juice bottles. Later, me and 2 friends drank the juice and began feeling it come on slowly within 10-15 minutes, while we sat around a big campfire. We had mild effects- awe, vision clarity, the giggles, etc., but it was getting stronger. Suddenly it came to mind to put Shpongle in the stereo and turn it up reasonably loud. WHooo00o0o0osh! I began moving to the music in a trippy tribal kind of fashion. I was tranced out totally on a mind trip while I danced around the fire intensely. I felt like the purpose of my trip that night was to cleanse/purge myself, I even vomitted from this mental task. Before that night I had never really danced before, my dancing experience was limited to slow dancing and like goofy dancing. I danced for a straight 2 hours! At the culmination of it all I sat down on a bench and cried for probably 10 minutes. But out of beauty and happiness, because I felt like I saw the truth I guess, a tiny peek, I don't remember anything about it except that it was the most beautiful thing possible, but even beyond that. I had a strong mind journey, but not so powerful that I couldn't act reasonably sober if I wanted to. Some mild visuals from your mind playing with seeing things in the shadowy darkness and some mild closed eye visuals. I had only tripped once previous to this, a very mild candyflip.
The second time was 2 weeks ago, had 4 mediocrely colonized rye berry bags into 128 oz. of cranberry juice. Drank among me and 2 other people. Tripped in daylight, extremely mild visuals, but I do remember a few flashes of vivid hallucinations. Extremely powerful mind trip, felt like I almost couldn't handle it. I went very far, I interecepted such an incredible amount of information, and so frustrated by how little our consciousness can comprehend. I think a lot of what I got out of that trip went into my subconscious.
But anyway, making a psilly extract like I did, does work, very well. I've never tripped eating shrooms though so I can't compare from personal experience. Time periods of effects I'd say...15 comes on, 30 min of mild, 2 hours main effects, come down gradually to slightly buzzing for 2 hours.

im actually trying the extraction with methanol, i'll sure post my results as soon as i get.
well, ive already tried to make a tea from a cake and it did work. but lately ive heard that vermiculite is high on (dammit, i dont know it in english, hope u figure it out) amiantum, that metal used for making heat resisting gloves and such... people who work/live near vermiculite mines use to suffer and die of pulmonar diseases caused by high concentrations of amianthum (?) present on the dust... i have no idea of how toxic it can actually be for shroomers like us, and ive never read anything about it on the net, so i think it needs some more research on.

is at erowid.org i know, well think. Seems to be same extraction as used for mescaline, dmt, LSA etc
Mix the mushrooms with a nonpolar solution, filter and keep the stuff in the filter( ie throw away filtered solution. Take the stuff and mix with a polar solution, filter, but this time keep the liquid that has filtered through and through away the stuff left in the filter, evaporate the liquid off and the stuff which remains once the liquid has evaporated is the psilocyblin.
Non polar solution is something like petroleum ether
polar solution is ethanol or methanol.

Hi,
Here at my tea house we have worked extensivly with extraction. I would like to pass on some tips.
First, If you are going to be using a colonized cake for extraction, let your cake sit around for at least six weeks after germination has begun. Mycelium isn't as potent as the fruitbodies are. It needs more time to make magic at this stage.
Also, vodka works great for extraction, but if you want to hurry things along, try using grain alcohol. There is less water in it. It evaporates alot faster.
Even better than grain is methanol. This is especialy important when extracting from fresh shrooms, as psilocin is more soluble in methanol than it is in ethanol.

It’s a simple chemistry extraction. Super easy. But if you want a good yield I suggest getting a good chem setup! First like a couple posts already said it’s a simple extraction with methyl alcohol. Evaporation will work but methyl alcohol is very toxic and wouldn’t recommend just scraping up the impure alkaloids and eating it. You have to purify. Either via crystallization. (Yes it’s possible. But more advanced and requires a chromatography.) or you can distill it. Though if you distill be prepared to lose most of your yield. Honestly just eat them. Is much less effort for the same trip. Besides it’s much harder to gauge a dose of pure psilocin or psilocybin. Most scales don’t measure in micrograms unless you have a chem scale from a university or chem supply store which will cost you a pretty penny. In this case I’ve extracted before and made psilocin blotters. (Dissolve the psilocybin in everclear and put it on paper like lsd) wouldn’t recommend it though. It takes away the natural feeling. It’s not just the psilocin that makes you trip. There are many pscyoactive compounds in shrooms that contribute to a trip. And if your trying to isolate the psilocybin you lose the others in the purification process. So probably not a good idea... just my two cents! Good to see someone interested in alkaloid extractions though!
