A Request
    #4157750 -

The world made by human beings often demands a great deal from each of us. These demands can cause us to treat our lives without much respect. This is the nature of unconnected living. The universe, the natural world, our inner wisdom make no such demands. The inner world, the natural world and the universe make only one request and there is plenty of time to hear it. The request is this: You are already in a state of grace and balance. You are already awake to the potential of your concioussness. Please accept this as so and it shall take place. Listen. All of this is closer than you think. Enlightnement is already blazing within you. It does not matter who you are or what you have done. Be humble enough to love yourself and then you can move forward.

If you are balanced, then you can easily cope with working a shitty job, helping the capatalists get rich, its really not a problem, you have your balance and peace, serving others is ok.

Love yourself, and then you can be happy. Why didn't I think of that?

As soon as this info gets out, we're on the fast track to world peace!

Is doing this serving others? It seems more to me like enabling evil. :mushroom2:

Enlightenment is an ideal...not a reality.

Many philosophies such a the Hindu religion tell us to be content with our lot in life...in other words shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down. One would do well to remember that the countries of origin for many varieties of Buddhism were class conscious countries where religion was used to keep the poor people poor and the rich people on top. There is much good to say about Buddhism, but it has been used to negatively manipulate people as much as any other religion. To follow any philosophy and hail it as wisdom blindly is folly and an abdication of personal freedom. I used to follow these types of eastern philosophies until I realized that much of it is deprecated code.

Enlightenment is not unnacheivable. Why are you guys so negative about this? You cannot look at and or hear the dali lama speak and say that enlightenment is not a reality.

The Dali Lama says he is not enlightened. I have read most of his books. He makes no claim. I have, by the way, heard the Dali Lama speak in person. He just seemed like a nice old guy. He did not impress me as being special in any way.

Have you ever thought that our ideas of what consitutes enlightenment might be different. I have no idea if the Dali lama is enlightened or not as I don't know him. I have heard many people on these forums say things worthy of any lama or holyman.

Castaneda was not a Buddhist. Enlightenment was not an issue in his books...which were fiction...educational fiction in some ways...but fiction.

I dont think it was ever proven that they are fiction.

I know it doesn't deal with enlightenment in the buddhist sense but it deals with 'see'ing and much of the ideals of enlightenment
