Please help me answer some questions on my Martha setup?

I have been reading over the search area for some time and my brain is literally fried. I have some questions for those of you that have a Martha type setup using cool mist/ultrasonic humidifiers.
Well here goes. I just bought that $20.00 greenhouse from Big Lots, some rope lights, timer, and a Ultrasonic Humidifier from ReliOn.
Scatmanrav, you stated in another similar post that an ultrasonic humidifier does not perform the same action as a cool mist. My question is the ultrasonic humidifier states the following on the box "Soothing cool, Quiet Healthful Mist". Will this particular brand of ultrasonic humidifier do the job of humidification and air exchange?
Hippiechick, I think you have the same exact model. I saw a picture of one in one of your posts and now I can't find it.
I need to know what the purpose of the ultrasonic humidifier is and what the cool mist unit is for? Why are they different? And finally, if both are required which one stays inside the Martha, or do they both?
I'm really sorry about the multitude of questions. If there is a link to setting this thing up or a direct comparison on how these things work, I would appreciate it.
Hippiechick, I really like your setup and will probably use it as a model if that's okay. Do you have any detailed pics I can look over for reference?
Thanks for not flaming me people.

What exactly do you want a pic of? Glad to help.

Oh, the coolmist, while the air is "misted", does not provide enough humidity on it's own. It's function is to supply a constant supply of fresh air and to push the CO2 out the bottom.
The ultrasonic is to supply the proper humidity. If you were to run it constant to supply the fresh air, your humidity would get too high. That's why they usually only run about 10 minutes every two hours.
My coolmist is a Vicks.

hippiechicks got it down, as usual. i don't use a coolmist, but a ultrasonic (on ever couple of hours), a small tub of perlite, and a fish-tank type air pump to bring in fresh air. you need someway to keep the air exchange up.
ah, hippiechick, there is that avatar again. ;-)
by the way, amazing photos of your trip down south on that other thread. sounds/looks fascinating and wonderful.

I have the same ultrasonic humidifier you do. The ReliOn. So the ultrasonic humidifier will only provide humidity, while the cool mist will provide for air exchange? Is that right?
Thanks for the offer on pics Hippiechick. I will pretty much be copying your entire setup, just because it's awesome, and would like any pertinent photos that will help me visualize what to do. If you have already posted this information elsewhere, I'll take that as well.
Basically any photos/directions that will get my operation running.
Question, do both the ultrasonic humidifier and cool mist unit remain outside of the greenhouse? Also, should I run the ultrasonic humidifier and cool mist simultaneously each time?
Thanks again Hippiechick.

The coolmist is almost always outside. The ultrasonic can be either. Depending on what type you use. I have the fogger type and have it inside now but am getting ready to run a line from my coolmist to it and then run a line from it to above my coolmist inlet.Yes, run them together. Your coolmist will run non stop, so everytime your ultrasonic comes on, your coolmist will be on. Run your ulrasonic so the mist enters your martha above your coolmist. That way the heavier damp water will fall into the coolmist and get spread throughout you set up.

Can you put some pics up on your modifications of the cool mist and ultrasonic humidifier? I would also like to see how you are running the two connections above one another.
I was going to be putting the little greenhouse inside my closet and using rope lights for lighting. Do you think that will be adequate for lighting?
Thanks again Hippiechick. Your help is very much appreciated!

Rope lights will be fine. They don't need much. If you can see them, they're getting enough light. Peace,Love,Happiness and Harmony. Hippie Chick

Question on my ultrasonic humidifier. If the mist is cool, like the box says, will this mess around with my temps? I kind of figured that the ultrasonic humidifier would put out some warm air and the cool mist would provide air exchange with some cooler air.
If they're both cool air, will that screw things up?

If I remember correctly, cool mist just means its not boiled to a vapor, like the "warm mist models."
Here is my set-up, currently missing the cool-mist since I'm having a hard time finding the correct one around here, in the meantime fanning will do.

Didnt read through this post but I'll answer some Q's I saw, if they've already been answered, ignore me.
>My question is the ultrasonic humidifier states the following on the box "Soothing cool, Quiet Healthful Mist". Will this particular brand of ultrasonic humidifier do the job of humidification and air exchange?
No. It puts out a cool visable mist, but not air. Cool mists, dont really put out a cool mist, despite their name Its just slightly humid air..not like the mist from an ultra. Its easy to tell though, plug it in. Can you feel air coming out like a fan? If not, no air exchange.
>I need to know what the purpose of the ultrasonic humidifier is and what the cool mist unit is for? Why are they different? And finally, if both are required which one stays inside the Martha, or do they both?
Both wll probably be used. As I said Ultrasonic puts out a DENSE THICK FOG and just barly pushes it out (ever seen those fogging fountains? Thats an ultrasonic). A cool mist, doesnt put out a visable mist, but if you put your hand or face in front of the out put you can feel a cool wet breeze blowing out. The ultra sonic may not be needed, if the cool mist can do air exchange and humidity, depending on tons of other variables (including your states and houses humidity, what casings, what substrate, size, misting, fanning, brand of humidifiers, age and how well they work and a multitude of other things). You want the cool mist out of the martha (so its pumping in fresh air) but the ultra can be in or out, doesnt matter.
My humidifier details is in the Closet link in my signature.

In my experience the cool mist alone has been enough for a martha. It's the newer Vick's cool mist built by kaz(the output looks kinda like a backwards S). Output is covered with duct tape and a 5/8" garden hose runs the mist to the martha, about 1.5 feet of hose used to get it there. I know what I'm saying will meet a lot of criticism but this is what has worked for me. Worked a little too well actually, had to attach a spray nozzle to the end of the hose and turn it down to condense more of the water but still allow for the fresh air exchange (FAE). Many will say though that the amount of FAE the cool mists provide will only allow for 85% or so rh. It works for me, and Id suggest starting with just the cool mist and later adding an ultrasonic if more is needed. (hides from the shroomery God's who will send bolts in my direction for suggesting this -- oh well had to get my .02$ in.)

*sends bolts of lightning!*
Just kidding, you werent the first to suggest that a cool mist alone would be enough in this thread. Its a resonable suggestion and no one ever said a cool mist couldnt do it alone. Its the ultrasonic that wont do FAE and humdity alone..
