idea for casing - would like your comment

I was thinking the other day of a way to maximize my fruiting while trying to minimize space needed to grow. I came up with this idea, which I'm sure others have had but I haven't found much info on the boards about it. It is almost exactly like the DB kit but doesn't use dung...



I'm thinking that the casing layer will provide enough moisture to keep the RH high enough especially with daily mistings.

All this really is is a self-enclosed casing that doesn't have a bigger perlite humidified tub to sit in.

Please excuse my lack of artistic ability. Also I have birdseed substrate on the pic but any substrate could be used in it's place. I just happen to like birdseed....

Comments, improvements, and/or critisism welcome.

That works pretty well. I suggest a bit more room for the shrooms. Those Saran-wrap "Quick Covers" are great for a setup like that.

Anno,

I didn't mean to imply that I came up with the idea of casing... If I were that smart I wouldn't have to ask questions on this board. :wink:

I just meant that I always see casings put into a terrarium to colonize and fruit. My idea is to eliminate the terrarium by having a container the right size so that it acts as both.

Do you know if they make a clear version of those Quick Covers? Everytime I have seen them, it seems they are always colored...
