preserving shrooms

i read somewhere that we can preserv fresh shrooms by just sticking them into honey.
is this method effective? how long can i keep them without loss of potency?

I dont know about fresh shrooms, but one of my favorite things to do is grind dried shrooms to powder and put it into a half pint and mix like a paste out of it with the honey. then I pour a layer of honey on the top and seal, I let this sit for a momth or so then spread it on some toast or whatever. yum
