1. Turn off your caps lock, it wont help you get your questions answered only piss off people and they will not help you any further.
2. Yes, but you must turn off or disable the heat.

I thought I was the only one who's done that. I don't know if not your supposed to, but the few times I've done it there potancy wasn't affected.

You can use your current dehydrator, but you have to disconnect the heating element first. If you don't the heat WILL destroy some of the potency. So essentially it will work just like a fan chamber. For continued drying after you use the dehydrator, whip up a dessicent drying chamber to suck out any residual moisture

I am using a food dehydrator from Wal-Mart- It's a "Nesco".
The lowest heat setting is 96 degrees, which is what I use. I understand that is below the threshold that affects potency.
True or not true, experienced ones?

I say true. I've dried at 100 degrees Fahrenheit with no potency loss.

My Ronco dehydrator does not have a heat settings, but it also doesnt have a fan, so I dont see what disconnecting the heating element would do, I dont know if most of the others have fans or not.

This is something I've been wondering, too. I have a dehydrator that I bought back when I was into raw foods (ha). It's used in raw food 'cooking' because it doesn't reach a heat high enough to destroy nutrients in the food, so the food is not actually cooked. It makes sense it should be okay for the secondary metabolites of shrums.

This is why checking dates on threads is so important. We all use dehydrators these days. Max heat settings are most common from what I see from TC's. Mine maxes at 165 and that's perfectly fine. If it went higher I would use that as well. Bumping old threads confuses noobs and causes misinformation to spread. The first lesson of using the SE is to ignore info that is older than 3-5 years.

No alkaloids hate heat and will cause potency loss and effect the trip. Use a box and a fan they will dry in 2 days.

Using heat to dry mushrooms hurts alkaloids and WILL cause potency loss and effect the trip.

Your responses are on par with the date of this thread.
Heat in the drying process doesn't destroy potency.
