I used the popcorn tek with the B+ strain and loved the fast colonization speed. I cased it with 50/50 (Jiffy mix for casing layer), and used perlite for humidification. I didn't have one problem with contams, but had a problem with overlay on one of my cases due to my tub not sealing correctly. My case without overlay did pretty well, and I scratched my 2nd casing and now it's got so many shrooms growing it's going to produce at least twice as much as my first one.

Here are the pics from my first case which I harvested tonight. They're phone pics, so cut me some slack.

This is the final pic of them in the tub before harvest.


This was our first and biggest shroom. It was over 12" long, and weighed 16.3g wet.


This was the final product in a bag. It weighed 244.1g wet and is currently on a fan drying. I'm lucky enough to live in a state that's dry enough that I don't need desiccant.


So as you can see, popcorn is a beautiful thing, and if you're having trouble fruiting then you are doing something horribly wrong.

I'd like to thank the shroomery for all the help and info it's given me, the guys at #cultivation for emergency late night help, and not thank the people who have given me misinformation

No problem, and this is my first casing I've ever done too, so if I can do it, a lot more people can.  I'm going to bed, I've had a long hard night of drinking and picking mushrooms. :laugh:

I don't think anyone said 'popcorn won't fruit', but rather that other grains seem to perform better.  Rye is the spawn of choice with the commercial mushroom farms for a reason.

id like to see a trip repot before i go complementing it other than to its nice size and weight porducing large mushroomz is kewl whether they are potent or not they r still kewl to look at. but, i still wanna see a trip report

Thats the real deal buddy. There is some i imagine, but that is the roundest ass regardless.

In all, we started with 8 pint jars.  We had two tubs, one with each lasagna pan and 3 pints to each pan.  We also started another cake pan and two coffee mugs a little late, and they're going to go into a terrarium with perlite for humidification just like the tubs.  The mugs were made up because we still had sub left after the pie tin, and we thought we could definately use something to graze on.

One more thing, there will definately be a trip report. :wink:  I'm thinking Cinco de Shroomo.

Wow three pint PF jars to a tub...what would you suggest for half pint jars per pan?

Yes round is not the word. It`s a beautiful thing....

Anyway maybe we should drop the discussion of the ass and get back on topic. I too would love to hear a trip report.
